This application is intended as a practical and educational tool to aid in the triage of emergency room patients. These guidelines are taken from the 4th edition of the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) provided by AHRQ. A link to the website is contained within. This tool is not intended to replace critical thinking or clinical judgment. The ESI algorithm can be used as an educational tool to aid in the training of triage nurses. Not only is the algorithm included but also 20 practice cases have been added to illustrate and clarify specific challenges.
