“I Can’t Afford It.” And Other Tales

there was a mix-up with my last order from eds ring splints and i ended up getting a duplicate of the order i'd placed before that. rebecca said i can keep the splints, but obviously i already have the exact same ones, so i'm wondering if anyone would like them. they're free to a good home. i'm happy to pay postage within australia.

there are four splints, all stainless steel, all adjustable: medial thumb splint, 1 PIP (middle) joint spiral splint and 2 DIP (top) joint spiral splints. here's a photo of what you actually get.

action photos below!

these are the DIP and PIP splints with connector. i should mention that the PIP splint in this photo is a hypermobility splint rather than a spiral splint. that was the first one i bought, to try them out. the piece of yarn is attached to a little wrist band my mum crocheted for me because i found the splints wiggled around too much when i type. YMMV.

this is the thumb splint and its attached strap. again the bit of yarn is to keep the finger splints from moving around too much. i've tried three different types of thumb splint, two from rebecca, and i've found this one is the most comfortable for me. it stabilises the MCP joint, but i've found it also helps my CMC joint. not as much as my push brace, but overall this splint is much more comfortable than the push one.

and the two spiral splints on my left hand.

this is just to show what the pressure of 8 hours or so of wearing the splints looks like. the splints themselves leave almost no marks. unfortunately, the connectors dig in. i really need to find another way to keep them together. maybe more yarn!

as i said, these are all easily adjustable. the good thing about having body piercings is that i already owned a set of opening and closing pliers.

if you'd like these, leave a comment or send me a PM. or email tree at dreamwidth. alternatively, feel free to mention this to anyone you think might be interested. it seems a shame to let them go to waste if they could help someone.
