when i was 19 i started taking hormone pills to control my body. the weekend i started taking them, i got my period and it was the worst one i'd ever had, as if my body knew somehow that never again would it be allowed to make me delirious with pain, and it was getting in one last parting shot.
the night after i read the medication leaflet i had a panic attack, convinced i was going to get a blood clot and die. every slight pain or muscle twitch had me choking. i lay awake all night and every moment felt my death.
it's not an experience i recommend.
