EUGENE, OREGON, June 18–19 — Texans ended up claiming 7 of the 8 Worlds spots in the 100 and 200. The women’s side of that tally came from prep seniors Mia and Mariah Maxwell (Atascocita, Humble).

The twin sisters, who eschewed high school meets in ’26 and represented the Houston training group APXP Performance all season, went 1–2 in the 100 and 200. Mia took the 100 in 11.08 and 200 in 22.49. In the longer sprint, Mia is now the =No. 10 all-time prep.

In an all-time list sense, however, no woman could match thrower Jaslene Massey (Niguel, Aliso Viejo, California) as she threw in her second career meet at Hayward Field. An Oregon recruit for the fall, she’ll soon be used to the venue.

In Thursday’s discus, Massey, already positioned at No. 2 on the HS ATL with her 196-4 (59.84) State Meet winner, strengthened her hold on that spot. Leading from round 1 onward, she hit 190-7 (58.11) in frame 3. After two subsequent fouls, she blasted her last throw out to 197-9 (60.27).

On Friday, although she said later, “I don’t consider myself a shot putter,” with her last throw of 55-4¾ (16.88) in that event Massey added 14 inches (35cm) to her PR for the win.

With the double nailed down, an ecstatic Massey told Runnerspace, “Wow! It’s literally just wow. Everything else is over my head. It’s really hard to process right now that this just happened and I’m wearing this medal standing here. ’Cause this is my next home.

“I really wanted to go out, show out, represent my coach, back home, Michael O’Dell, and my future coach, Brian Blutreich.”

In the 400, Ataja Stephane-Vazquez (Southeast Guilford, Greensboro, North Carolina) climbed to No. 7 all-time high school with a 51.08. The Georgia-bound speedster drew confidence from her heat, 51.41 in the outside corridor. She told Runnerspace, “I came out here in lane 9 in the prelims. I ran a personal best at 51.4, U.S. [high school] No. 1, and I was running blind the whole time. Like, I was just thinking in my head, ‘Get out, get out, get out.’ So I ran such a good race yesterday. I tried to mimic that from lane 5, where I could see people this time, but still focus on running my race, focus on getting out, focus on not running off of other people, just running like how I did yesterday by myself and executing my race.”

In the 1500, Florida frosh Claire Stegall followed the hot pace by Ellery Lincoln to run 4:04.59, worth No. 2 on the all-time U.S. U20 list. Lincoln, a prep junior (Lincoln, Portland, Oregon), was 2nd in 4:07.99 and No. 6 all-time high school.

Prep junior Paige Sheppard (Union Catholic, Scotch Plains, New Jersey) continued her winning ways as a runaway winner in the 800 in 2:01.76.

The hurdles were won by Georgia frosh Maddi Cooper in 12.91 (No. 7 all-time U.S. Junior) and Natalie Dumas (Eastern, Voorhees, New Jersey) in 56.13. Dumas did so soon after placing 9th in the flat 400.

Tennessee frosh Hannah Grace won the vault at 14-7¼ (4.45). At the NCAA a week earlier, Grace had vaulted 14-10¾ (4.54) for 6th — making herself the No. 3 all-time U.S. U20 performer.
