Peace, Love and Good Books!
Happy holidays, my friends. And meet my new housemates, Ivy and Moon.
About two months ago I came home and there were kittens in my house. It seemed like they came out of nowhere. Really? Kittens? Did I imagine them? Apparently not.
For months I’d been considering adopting kittens from a cat shelter nearby. I even applied for adoption. In early October I took my daughter and grand girls to the shelter to “pet kittens”. I was looking to adopt, but hadn’t chosen one yet. These two were together, they were quite friendly, and not too terrified of two-year-old Ellie. Perfect. I told them I would come back another day to adopt them. After all, I hadn’t bought all the supplies, the cat box, kitten food, water bowl. I wasn’t quite sure I was ready for a new addition, let alone two.
My daughter got wind of the plan that we were leaving without the furry friends, and she said, “What? Oh no. You’re taking them home today.”
“I am?”
“You are.”
And there it was. I adopted Ivy and Moon that day.
For weeks, I was stunned and delighted by my new housemates. They are funny, entertaining, and best of all, snuggly, warm and furry. I think we’ve gotten to know each other!
Meet Ivy.
Ivy is a gorgeous, super soft, solid gray girl. Six months old, she is a shoulder cat and likes to sit there when I’m typing on my computer. She loves to watch the birds in the bird feeder and Moon playing with toys and making a general fool of herself. Ivy is above all that. I wish she would warn me before climbing my legs. But I love waking up to her purring beside me.
Meet Moon.
Moon is a seven-month-old tortoise shell and she is a clown. She is not good at walking along ledges or shelves- she usually falls off them. But she is so playful. She loves crinkle balls. We have ten and I have no idea where she’s hidden them all. She also loves to carry the wand toys around the house. Ivy likes this too, and she’ll follow Moon anywhere as long as she is dragging a ribbon around. I wish she’d stop spilling my water cup in the middle of the night but I love it when she snuggles with me on the couch.
Fur babies bring me daily joy and much needed laughter. I’ll post updates of them often. Because no one likes kitten videos. (She says sarcastically.)

I'm so glad you have IVY and MOON. You'll never regret your decision. We had Paddy and Dougan (brother tuxedo cats) for 18 years. Oh, the joy they brought!
What beautiful new housemates! I'm sure they bring much joy and chaos to your home. Please share more, because I certainly don't have time for kitten videos. :)
