Helios Towers and ANAPI Set Agreement for $110M Tower Investment in DRC
Helios Towers (OTCPK: HTWSF), the London-based independent mobile tower company, has signed an investment deal with Agence Nationale pour la Promotion des Investissements, the agency that fosters investment and improves the business environment in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The agreement, valued at over $110 million, aims to expand the growth of mobile networks to support rising connectivity needs throughout the DRC.
Helios Towers, active in the DRC since 2011, operates nearly 2,800 sites in the country, including 760 rural towers, serving 37 million people. The company says it has invested, to date, over $700 million in its DRC operations.
With a favorable framework for investment and network expansion that will boost competitiveness, Helios Towers claims this new agreement will enable it to accelerate the development of its tower infrastructure by:
- Deploying new sites in urban and rural areas,
- Strengthening the energy and operational resilience of networks,
- Extending connectivity in underserved areas,
- Developing local skills, and
- Continuing sustainable energy initiatives.
