Cycles On Netflix

I’m not sure if anyone is still around here anymore, but I wanted to bring up that Cycles 19 and 20 are now on Netflix!
I had given up on the show long before these cycles aired, but a few days home sick had me curious. After watching most of Cycle 19 today, I’m back on LJ reading the conversations from then. It’s been fun; I’ve missed it.

Has anyone else noticed this trend in the last few seasons where the place where episodes end sometimes is strange? It used to be that every episode ended with the panel and (usually) elimination. Now, though, it seems like there are several episodes every season, particularly in the beginning of the season, end in strange places.

I'm personally not a fan of this trend. It just seems weird and makes episodes feel incomplete.

Renee Alway has been sentenced to 12 years in prison. "Renee Diane Alway pleaded guilty to four burglary counts and one count each of vehicle theft and being a felon in possession of a firearm -- all felonies -- and a misdemeanor count of identity theft for crimes she committed last year in the Palm Springs area."

Okay, I'm not going to post any spoilers. But Tyra's "surprise" in the last episode was just so completely beyond fake. Does she really honestly expect anyone to believe she is surprised at results when the judges clearly choose what score to give contestants based on who they want to win?

Angelea is finally speaking up...and suing

An "America's Next Top Model" contestant says producers snatched her crown AFTER she won it fair and square, because they found out ... she used to be an escort.

Angelea Preston says things started to go South right before she taped the finale of the All-Star season in 2011. According to a lawsuit she's filing ... Preston told producers, confidentially, prior to filming the season she had been an escort for about a year -- and that spread like wildfire to the rest of the cast and crew.

After the finale was taped -- and Preston had won the grand prize -- she says a casting director called and grilled her about the whole escort business. In the suit, Preston says she admitted it, but insists she was a legal escort and not a prostitute. Despite this, Preston was told she had violated her contract and could not be the winner.

Preston says her pay-for-play days were well behind her when she shot the All-Star season, so therefore she did NOT break the contract. She says losing the title cost her a bunch of Vogue spreads, and a $100,000 CoverGirl deal.

She's suing producers, networks, and studios for breach of contract and says she suffered at least $3 million in damages.

BONUS FACT: In the suit, Preston says the models worked in torturous conditions -- like being denied food and water for 10 hours. Yes, a model is complaining about NOT eating.

Analeigh is in a movie with Scarlett Johansson called Lucy (she can be seen in the trailer here at 26 seconds). It's set to open July 25 in the US.

She's also in a movie called Two Night Stand with Miles Teller (Divergent/Spectacular Now/etc.). It's set to open August 22 in the US.

AND she's got a new show on ABC this fall called Manhattan Love Story. It will air on Tuesday nights.

Actress in Upcoming Whitney Houston Biopic

Guess who is slated to portray Whitney Houston in the latest installment of Lifetime biopics?

The Whitney Houston biopic is officially underway as model and actress Yaya DaCosta has been cast to play the iconic singer in Lifetime’s upcoming film of the late legend.

TV Line reports that the 31-year-old DaCosta will take on the lead role in the biopic as it explores Houston’s rocky relationship with singer Bobby Brown and her rise to world fame.

The biopic is being directed by Angela Bassett, who will make her directorial debut with this film.“I have such regard for both Whitney’s and Bobby’s amazing talents and accomplishments, and I feel a responsibility in the telling of their story,” said Bassett in a statement when the news was first announced in May.

“Their humanity and bond fascinates us all. I’m beyond excited to have this opportunity to go behind the camera and into their world.”

Bassett took to Twitter Saturday to tweet the news of DaCosta’s casting.

DaCosta previously stared in Season 3 of America’s Next Top Model. She has since gone on to star in a number of TV shows including All My Children, Ugly Betty and House. DaCosta has also starred on the big-screen with a role in Lee Daniels’ The Butler.
