Program Overview
With our Physics AS, you can move forward in your career and develop new technologies, methods and theories based on the results of research to deepen our understanding of how things work and contribute to innovative, real-world applications.
Upon completion of our Physics degree, you are prepared to continue your study of physics at a four-year institution or pursue admission into various medical-related, technology and engineering fields.
Educational Objectives
The educational objectives for graduates of the Tyler Junior College Physics program are to attain:
- Skills and knowledge to successfully transfer to an accredited four-year institution as a major in physics or a physics-related field.
- Problem-solving skills relevant to both applied physics applications and to success as a student at a four-year institution.
- Progression in level of interaction within a project team environment.
- Baseline skills and knowledge to maintain professional competency in an evolving landscape of technology and scientific discovery.
- A broad ability to integrate ethics in professional practice and research.
Student Outcomes
Student outcomes describe what students are expected to know and are able to do by the time of graduation. These relate to the knowledge, skills and behaviors that students acquire as they progress through the program. Graduates of TJC’s Physics program will:
- Identify, formulate, design and solve broadly defined problems by applying knowledge of technologies, methods and theories based on results of scientific research.
- Conduct experiments or test theories and analyze and interpret the resulting data
