Scent of Sabotage by Dana Mentink gives readers one thrilling ride. Beth Wolfe never dreamed she'd meet the son she put up for adoption when she was a teenager, but nothing could prepare for her ex to show up saying their son is in trouble. Together they get trapped in a creepy amusement park, trying to escape killers while they try to rescue their son and his finance'.  I love this second chance/reunion trope. Usually stories don't center around older main characters, but Beth's kids are all grown and she reconnects with her first love, Jack St. James. I also love the interesting reunion between Beth and her son - not your typical reuniting story. The action and suspense were fantastic. I listened to the audio version and the narrator did a decent job of bringing the characters to life. Definitely a novel you'll want to binge read from start to finish. I received an ebook review copy of this book through NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This is such a fast-paced and absorbing book that it was hard to put down. I really loved that the main characters got a second chance at love and also that they were older and still actively engaged in life and helping others. The bloodhound Arthur is a favorite canine now, since he is older, heroic and an intrepid investigator on his own. Arthur discovered some real twists in the story all on his own and it was a pleasure to read about his tenacity in tracking and finding victims and truth. The story centered around Beth and Jack who had a relationship in high school and are just now being reintroduced to each other as they search for their son’s missing girlfriend. The setting of an amusement park was perfect, creepy and with lots of places to move the action around. The plot was well written with surprising twists as well as clues all along the way about who the real villain was. I loved reading about characters from previous books in the series and the closeness of the family and how much they cared for each other was heartwarming. This is a realistically told suspense tale with plenty of action, some romance developing and a dog that is absolutely adorably intelligent.
I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book, and I also purchased my own copy since I thoroughly enjoy this author’s books. I was not required to write a positive review, and all opinions expressed are my own.

Oh my gosh, I'm going to miss the Wolfe family. I have read many, many series by a lot of different authors and none touched my heart like this one did. Also, I've never read a series that tied up every possible loose ends in a very surprising way. Dana Mentink, I'm so glad I found this series and I have to say I think you have become my favorite author. These were about "real" people who had flaws of insecurity, short fuses, bossy, picking at their brothers and sisters as only siblings can do, and deep secrets held for years. But they would all do anything for their families even risking their lives without a question or second thought. They lived their faith without embarrassment or shyness. God was always first, family second and their dogs third. Thank you for writing such a heart warming series.

Jack had texted his high school girlfriend Beth, who came to meet him with her aging bloodhound K-9 Arthur. He tells her this is about the son they put up for adoption many years ago and then gets attacked. After the attack, he doesn't remember what is going on. Just that there is trouble and he wants Beth far from it! But Beth is not about to let that happen. As they piece things together, they start remembering how things had been between them. Can they figure out what is going on and get them all out alive? Read this to find out!

The pace is breakneck and the tone us intense with an action and character oriented storyline that has a few kisses only. The characters are vibrant and endearing. The Christian ideals are woven into the story. This is the final book in the series, but you don't have to read the others first. However, I think you will get more out of it if you do! If you like heart-pounding action, no steam and intriguing mysteries, then this series is for you! Enjoy!

Dana Mentink brings her latest Love Inspired Suspense series, Security Hounds Investigations, to an epic conclusion with Scent of Sabotage! Beth Wolfe, owner of the Security Hounds Detective Agency and much-loved matriarch of the Wolfe Family has a blessed life with her adult children running their family business. Widowed for many years, Beth is shocked when her old high school flame, Jack St. James, contacts her, saying one word that contains her most guarded secret—Adam, the son that she and Jack gave up for adoption as teenagers. When she goes to secretly meet Jack, he gets attacked. Concussed, Jack can’t remember the reason for their meeting. As Jack recovers and remembers, he pieces together that he has met Adam and that they have a relationship of sorts. Adam calls upon Jack, who is an investigative reporter by trade, to help locate his missing girlfriend, Tess. When Beth finds out, she refuses to leave Jack’s side and lends her expertise as a detective, along with her security dog, Arthur. What transpires is a wild jaunt through an amusement park that’s closed during the California wildfires. As Jack and Beth chase down clues and uncover insurmountable evidence of unknown crimes, they find healing and restoration in the only way God could orchestrate as everything goes up in flames around them.

Dana Mentink took me on a wild ride with Scent of Sabotage, and I will never look at another amusement park the same way again because of it! Even though this is only the second book I’ve read from the Security Hounds Investigations series, I was not lost with its sixth installment—it just made me want to read the rest all the more (and they are on my TBR list)! I love that Ms. Mentink wrote Jack and Beth to be older and I enjoyed meeting them! (I also love that more Christian authors are making their main characters in their 40s and doing suspenseful things!) The use of an amusement park as the center of the story, while a wildfire is raging no less, was a very unique choice that kept me glued to my seat as a reader. I love how Ms. Mentink had both Beth and Jack’s storylines woven together, yet merged them as one. I was amazed at Beth and Jack’s past together and their independent takes on it—that Jack reached out to Adam after all these years and that Beth kept Adam a firmly guarded secret from everyone but her late husband. Having both sides of the situation and how they handled it and why made me feel for Jack and Beth. I understood clearly why Jack felt the need to reach out and why Beth felt like she couldn’t. I love that Beth and Jack didn’t judge or blame each other for this, rather seeing themselves for who they were without Christ at the time as opposed to who they are now. I love the Grace that was shown in the book regarding Adam—it was a powerful lesson to witness. If you are looking for a read full of high stakes and Grace, then I highly recommend Scent of Sabotage by Dana Mentink!

Dana Mentink out did herself as always. The suspense, mayhem, and of course dogs in this book made it amazing to me. The fact that an older heroine is here is also boost for me as I am older. Security Hounds Investigations book 6 is one yiu won't want to miss reading. It is a stand alone read but pairs great with the other 5 books. Check it. Dana will soon become one of your favorite authors to watch and read.

Loved everything about this story. Fell in love with the Wolfe family and their dogs. The danger Beth and Jack were in had me holding my breath and anxious to find how they all survived. Enjoy.
