The session will be available online to ensure maximum accessibility.

Description
This course provides an in-depth overview of the fundamentals of electrochemistry, with a special focus on metal dissolution and separation techniques, which are essential for advancing sustainable recycling and resource recovery. The initiative is part of the European NEO-CYCLE project, which demonstrates the sustainable upcycling of spent NdFeB magnets from HDDs at TRL6, producing high-quality materials for the pharmaceutical, ammonia, fertilizers, and polymers industries. By engaging key stakeholders, the project paves the way for market uptake and aims to strengthen Europe’s rare earth and boron recycling capacity, ensuring a secure supply of strategic raw materials and fostering a sustainable European raw materials industry.

Target Audience
The course is particularly recommended for stakeholders involved in the four NEO-CYCLE project value chains — pharmaceutical, ammonia, fertilizers, and polymers — supporting the sustainable upcycling of spent NdFeB magnets from HDDs and contributing to the reinforcement of Europe’s circular economy for strategic raw materials, as well as for project partners and students.
