On June 1, 2026, at approximately 9:30am, Maple Ridge RCMP responded to a report of a pedestrian motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Lougheed Highway and Laity Street.
Officers on scene learned that a pickup truck travelling eastbound on Lougheed Highway struck a grey four door Mazda traveling northbound on Laity Street. The collision caused a pedestrian to be subsequently struck who was crossing a crosswalk in the area.
The pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The drivers of both vehicles were uninjured and remained on scene.
The eastbound lanes of Lougheed Highway were closed for a short period but have since been re-opened.
The investigation is still ongoing.
