Here's what Ian wrote on his Facebook page when his mom passed on 1/31/21:
Everyday the sun rises and light streams across our soul but for me it will all feel a little different tomorrow. Mum was first diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2002 and fought the disease bravely for many years until it stole everything but her body in 2014. It was as if she had left but was still here, unable to communicate, a sliver of the amazing woman who was my Mother. Alzheimer's is called "the long goodbye" because it seemingly lasts forever, but now we say goodbye for the last time. Your struggle is finally over Mum...and this incredible couple is reunited in heaven. Goodbye Mum, give Dad a kiss for me...I love you.
