Today I’m sharing a festive and functional project that’s perfect for Halloween gift-giving — a coffee cup gift card holder featuring bright colors, spooky-cute paper, and the perfect seasonal sentiment. This card isn’t just fun to make — it doubles as a gift when you tuck in a coffee shop (or spirits) gift card inside!

Want to see this card come together step-by-step? You can watch the full video tutorial now on the Kat Scrappiness YouTube channel!

Project Overview

I created this interactive card using the Kat Scrappiness Cuppa Joe Gift Card Tag Die Set, pairing it with Halloween patterned paper and bold cardstock layers. The playful sentiment “Lift Your Spirits” ties it all together — ideal for sending a little spooky cheer to friends, family, or teachers this October.

The outside features a pink coffee cup lid, whimsical jack-o-lantern paper, and a spiderweb-inspired background for that extra Halloween touch. Inside, there’s a hidden pocket that perfectly fits a gift card — a fun surprise for the recipient!

Supplies

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Prepare the Background

    • Trim orange patterned paper from the Spooky Cute Pink paper pad to 4.25" x 5.5" and adhere it to the card base.

    • Die cut the Spider Web Background Die from black cardstock and layer it over the patterned paper.

  2. Create the Coffee Cup

    • Die cut the base of the cup from black cardstock.

    • Cut the front panel of the cup from the jack-o-lantern patterned paper.

    • Die cut the lid and sleeve pieces from pink cardstock.

  3. Add Texture

    • Using a score board and stylus, score lines every 1/8" across the pink sleeve to create a corrugated texture.

    • Adhere all the coffee cup pieces together with a mix of tape runner and liquid glue.

  4. Assemble the Sentiment

    • Die cut “Lift Your Spirits” from orange cardstock and the shadow from black cardstock.

    • Adhere the pieces together with liquid glue, carefully adding the tittle dots for the “i’s.”

    • Attach the sentiment to the coffee sleeve with foam tape for dimension.

  5. Build the Card Front

    • Adhere the finished coffee cup to the card base with foam adhesive.

  6. Inside Pocket

    • Tuck in a gift card for a complete, interactive surprise!

Closing Thoughts

This Halloween gift card holder is a fun way to combine crafting and gift-giving into one festive project. The Cuppa Joe Gift Card Tag Die Set makes it simple to create an interactive design that’s sure to bring a smile — and maybe a pumpkin spice latte or two!
