Office of Athletics Names Ryan McDaniel Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach

Ryan McDaniel has helped guide Faulkner (Alabama) and Bethel (Indiana) to NAIA national tournament appearances
Georgia Gwinnett College Head Men's Basketball Coach Chase Teichmann has announced the addition of Ryan McDaniel as an assistant coach, another step in preparations for the Grizzlies' inaugural season in 2025-26.

McDaniel comes to GGC after spending the past two seasons as an assistant coach with Faulkner University (Alabama), helping the Eagles advance to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national tournament during the 2024-25 season. He also was a graduate assistant with Bethel University (Indiana) as the Pilots qualified for 2023 NAIA postseason play and won the 2023 National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association national championship.

"I couldn't be more excited and grateful to welcome Ryan McDaniel to our coaching staff. Ryan has been a proven winner as a player and coach. He has played and worked for some tremendous coaches that I respect greatly," said Teichmann. "His character is the first thing people mention when you bring up his name. He's a great person, first and foremost, and a fantastic young coach, with a lot of experience at our level. I can't wait to see the immediate impact he makes on our program."

McDaniel played at the University of Alabama in Huntsville from 2018-21.

"It's an honor and privilege to have the opportunity to be a part of the first men's basketball coaching staff at Georgia Gwinnett College. I want to thank Coach Teichmann for his belief that I can help him lay the foundation for the basketball program's success," McDaniel said. "I want to thank Coach Scott Sanderson and Faulkner University for the great experience and support they provided me during the past two years."

He continued, "While it's bittersweet to move on, I'm excited to work with Coach Teichmann, the athletic department and the administration to turn GGC basketball into a national power. I'm grateful for the chance to impact players' lives by helping them, not only to become better basketball players but also better people. I look forward to embracing this new challenge and bringing my passion and dedication to the team."

Besides coaching, McDaniel served as director for Faulkner's Battle at the Beach Tournament and has been a data collector for Noah Basketball's shooting development system, used by professional players since 2019 to improve their playing skills.

At Faulkner, Sanderson allowed McDaniel to assist in the development of the program's practice plans and then executing those plans to help the team and its players improve throughout the season.

Previously, McDaniel was Bethel's recruiting coordinator for the program's developmental squad, while also managing and scheduling games and coordinating team travel.

McDaniel earned a bachelor's degree in accounting at UAH and added a master's degree in business administration at Bethel.
