Murray Goes Back-to-Back; Named Mid-South Pitcher of the Week for a Third Time

COLUMBIA, Ky. – For the third time this season and second week in a row, Lindsey Wilson student-athlete Kayden Murray has been named the Mid-South Conference softball Pitcher of the Week, league officials announced Monday.

The freshman, of Bowling Green, became the 14th pitcher in program history to record 100 strikeouts in a single season over the weekend versus Bethel (Tenn.) and picked up two wins in the process.

In her first start against the Wildcats, Murray fired a five-inning no-hitter and retired nine Bethel batters as Lindsey Wilson cruised to a 9-0 victory. She made a relief appearance in the circle in game two of the series and posted seven strikeouts while allowing two earned runs on six hits.

Her second start of the series turned into her team-leading 12th complete game of the season and saw her punch out 11 on strikes for her sixth double-digit strikeout effort of the year. She surrendered one earned run on four hits in the game en route to her 10th victory in 2024.

All told, Murray finished the weekend with a 1.26 earned-run average, 27 strikeouts, one walk, and 14.2 scoreless innings out of the 16.2 innings she pitched.

Murray actively leads the conference for total strikeouts and innings pitched and ranks second for complete games and wins. She is also the only conference pitcher to have earned multiple Pitcher of the Week awards this season.

Kayden and her Blue Raider teammates are scheduled to host Asbury (Ky.) at 3 p.m. CST on Tuesday, April 9.
