CARROLLTON, Ga. - University of West Georgia head football coach Joel Taylor has added DJ Hazelray to his offensive staff, announcing Hazelray as the Wolves' new wide receivers coach.
Hazelray, a veteran coach in the Georgia High School scene, makes the jump back to the collegiate scene ahead of the Wolves' 2025 season.
"Thrilled to have DJ coach our wide receivers. He brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm that's contagious and will help our staff," said Taylor. "It will be great having his family join the Carrollton and UWG communities."
Most recently, Hazelray was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Warner Robins High School, helping the Demons to 16 wins over the past two seasons.
Prior to his time at WRHS, Hazelray was at Rome High School and has also coached at South Georgia powers Thomasville and Valdosta High Schools while also spending four years coaching at the high school level in Tennessee.
"I am super excited to be given the opportunity to join Coach Taylor's staff," said Hazelray, "I feel as though I've been prepared for this opportunity ahead after being at some of the top high school programs in this football-rich state."
Hazelray began his coaching career as a strength and conditioning coach at Western Kentucky University in 2015.
A native of Chattanooga, Hazelray was an All-Conference wide receiver at Bethel University, and earned a bachelor's degree in physical education in 2013 and a master's degree in education in 2018. Hazelray also holds an educational specialist degree from Valdosta State.
