A variety of teas (and tisanes) will be provided, but feel free to bring your favorite to share with others.

This Month we are proud to present a world premiere of Taiga West
by filmmaker Joëlle Kartesz 2006; 49 minute

This is a true moving story of Nadmid an old and famous Mongolian nomad shaman. She cures the body and heals the mind; she gives counsels and predicts the future. She conveys a culture and knowledge that go back to the origin time.

Shot in February 2001, a year before her death, and then a year later with her clan. Who will she transmit her powers to? Who will succeed her? Who will be chosen?

She once said: "When I was 13, in 1945, there was nothing here, no trees, only barren mountains, a few scattered families far away. I guarded the herd of horses at night. One night, I saw a rider galloping on a white mare and I fainted." That is the way I was initiated into becoming a shaman.

The filmmaker will present her film and answer questions.

Come join us in this collaboration teaching with Rabbi Ohad Ezrahi (A renowned Kabbalist and an author from Israel) in a rare visit to New York and Itzhak Beery from the NY Shamanic circle.

In this experiential workshop, through storytelling and shamanic exercises we will explore the symbolic naming of the mystical Kabalistic and ancient shamanic traditions. We will deepen the knowledge of our traits, behaviors and actions so we may learn to utilize them appropriately in our lives.

You will learn to enter non-ordinary realities, learn to journey to the animal energies of the Tree of Life and others who were named in the sacred books and in the verbal shamanic tradition. You'll also learn to shape-shift into them, allowing you to merge with and find out your animal nature—a reflection of your innermost self that represent those qualities you need most in this world, but which are often hidden, or repressed.

As it said: God teaches us derech eretz (The Earthly Ways) through the animals and birds. This is one of the reasons why they were created.

Rabbi Ohad Ezrahi, an Israeli spiritual teacher is the founder of Hamakom spiritual community in the Judean Desert (www.hamakom.org.il). Ohad's path goes through nature, Zen, years of learning Torah and Kabbalah in the ultra-orthodox Hassidic communities in Jerusalem. He is the author of many books and articles in contemporary Kabbalah. In the last years Ohad has been teaching and sharing contemporary Jewish wisdom for Jews and non-Jews, in Israel, India, Europe Canada and the U.S.A.

Join Irma and Manuel from the NY Shamanic Circle in a special workshop, which will be focusing on the sacred path of the TOLTEC TRADITION in which dreamers, seers, and healers use the energetic web of tonal (energy body teachings) and nagual (born natural instincts of the energy body) to awaken the perceptions of personal self and discover the clarity of the self-truth and wisdom that we keep deep within ourselves. Using techniques such as Tensegrity and different body movements combined with breathing exercises, we can us lose our fear and learn let go of the ego.

We will be working with recapitulation and stalking awareness using the sacred mysteries of the GREAT SMOKING MIRROR, a technique used by the MAYAN, TOLTEC, AZTEC, CHEYENNE, and PAWNEE. The teaching is “I am another one of myself,” and it speaks of the reflections seen by others judgments or unconscious opinions of us. These exercises will be done using COPAL, sacred incense used in ceremony, OBSIDIAN, a volcanic glass mineral that has been formed by molten lava, APACHE TEAR, a different type of Obsidian which helps us break grief driven by guilt and aids us in allowing and promoting forgiveness. We will also use MIRRORS, and MEDICINE BOWLS which are tools that assist in a traditional knowledge used for healing and exploring a dimensional portal to lift the veils of separation.

We will connect to the divine and enter the world of OMETEOTL (Aztec), known also as Hunab K’u (Mayan), THE ABSOLUTE - THE WORLD OF VOID, the name of the dual God, Lord of Two and of Duality, “Owner of Near and Far." From the void, He/She was born and created the Universe, creating night / day, birth/ death, order and chaos, positive and negative, male and female. Toltec’s refer to this dual nature as toltecatl in the knowledge that without these dualities the whole would never exist.

Come and enter this creative void to help understand and discover your natural intuitions and inspirations, bringing us a new and refreshing way to look at our lives and giving us the courage and wisdom to make the changes that will allow us to live in harmony with our new knowledge.

The mask becomes a medium for personal healing, as well as reclamaton of Our willingness to stretch ourselves, to say Yes to all of it, is ultimately the path to compassion, interconnectedness, and genuine empowerment.

Let our Masks speak the knowledge that we have all come to share. Allowing for ceremonial rhythms and music, and to dance of the mask of self, bringing beauty into the circle, dancing with others, dance into ecstasy, into exhaustion, moving between the polarities as we learn that we are eternal shape shifters, and have embodied flash of insight, and a taste of freedom. We become conscious of each mask each self-moving, lightly within them and briefly touch that which lies beneath each mask. Transformation takes place through ritual inhabitation of the mask as the performer.

In the workshop we will apply a few different techniques such as Tensegrity, (originated with Carlos Castaneda) a fusion of two terms, tension and integrity that are the two driving forces that contract and relaxes the tendons and muscles of the body, and the womb. These movements involve cleansing the sexual organs; the womb is physically cleared and flushed for a new purpose. During menopause, there is a new flow of energy, and in the case of hysterectomy, there are excellent challenges to perceive energy directly and perceive it with unbending purpose and intent. Breath work, combined with massage and sound, stimulates and awakens cells of the body, making the connection of the womb to the heart and spirit. Journey and recapitulation bring us to deal and understand our pain and suffering and brings inner healing to our spirit and womb. Rejoicing through dance and movement, and grounding ourselves to the Mother Earth, we discover the celebration of our feminine beauty and grandeur.

Here is an opportunity to help some of over 4,000 orphan children who live under the streets of Ulaanbaatar, with sometime in minus 40º F. Join us in an extraordinary and moving shamanic teaching and healing circle with Uncle, an Eskimo from Kalaallit Nunaat - The Land of The People (Greenland). Uncle is a storyteller, a leader, a traditional drum dancer and singer, and a member of the World Council of Elders. Come and join Susana for her second workshop with the NY Shamanic Circle. Susana will be working with sound and healings of the voice and heart. She will also be working with danza and icaro (dance and song). Susana incorporates the philosophy of oriental medicine (Nei-Jing) with Andean melodies and ceremonial drumming. This work will lead us into a deep understanding of how the voice works and resonates with the frequencies of the Universal Law of Creativity.

Once we reconcile with our inner rhythms and with the help of a ceremonial drum and ocarinas (clay whistles) we will get in tune with the inner melodies, finding reminiscences of ancestral sounds that are part of the natural flow that connects into our body. The dynamic corporeal of sound, melody and words will awaken within us the authentic expression of the heart and bring us to a new awareness. This will lead to a revelation that will help us find a memory of an old ancestral force and wake up the four passages of our heart which will enable us to live a life of plenitude and to realize our dreams.

Benefits

Sounds and silence is used for reparation; it awakens our senses and fountain of life leading to a corporeal conscious release of tension and inhibition. Working with sounds will reestablishes natural rhythms and creativity, building up our self esteem. This in turn liberates energy that is stagnant in our emotions, which helps rid ourselves of states of depression and anxiety while building up our inner defenses and keeping our spirits young.
