tutorial...Animated candle flicker
Open the base image of a candle you wish to animate
Zoom in on your image till it is aprox %300 bigger
Select the polygonal lassoo tool
Go round the edge of your flame >> right click >> select layer via copy >> name layer "flame 1"
Hide "flame 1" and go to your bg layer >> select the smudge tool
Make "flame 1" visable again >> Duplicate layer >> name "flame 2"
Hide layer "flame 1"
Select layer "flame 2"
Go to edit >> transform >> warp and change the shape of the flame a bit. Don't make your change too big otherwise the finished candle flicker won't look very realistc.
Duplicate then hide "flame 2"
Name new layer "flame 3"
Go to edit >> transform >> warp and change the shape of the flame a bit
At the very bottom of your tool pannel is the icon to transfer you to image ready
When it loads it should look fairly similar to photoshop. In the top right click on the tab that says animation
Select frame 1 and make sure that only "flame 1" and background are visable
Click on the right pointing arrow by the word >> new frame
Select frame 2 and make sure that only "flame 2" and background are visable
Click on the right pointing arrow by the word >> new frame
Select frame 3 and make sure that only "flame 3" and background are visable
Click on frame 1 >> At the bottom is the speed of the frame (currently 0 sec/no delay). Click on it and change it to 0.1 sec
Do this for each frame
Underneath your frames is a play button. Press it to preview what your animation will look like. Press the stop button to stop it :P
If you are happy with your animation go to your icon and click on the tab that says optimised.
At the bottom of the window it should tell you what size the file now is (Remember LJ icons need to be 40kb or less)
Go to File >> Save Optimised As >> and save your file as a gif
