Unite Pro 1.0

BZG (a current TidBITS sponsor) has reimagined and rebuilt its site-specific browser Unite, renaming it Unite Pro and resetting its version to 1.0. Unite Pro offers a fresh experience for converting websites into standalone Mac apps: it intelligently detects clean app names, high-quality icons, correct URLs, and sensible defaults; provides default options for your preferred app settings when creating multiple apps; allows apps to run in (and switch between) Normal, Sidebar, and Menu Bar modes; adds support for pinned tabs and persistent layouts in Sidebar mode; enables customization of website elements, typography, color, sticky headers, and more; offers automatic user agent switching; includes native macOS features such as badge notifications, meeting alerts, video speed controls, and AI companions on supported websites; intelligently routes links between Unite apps and your default browser; enhances password, location, permissions, and download management beyond what’s typically available in browsers; and incorporates an ad blocker. Unite Pro requires macOS 15 Sequoia or later. ($39.99 new with a 20% discount for TidBITS members, 35%-off upgrade for previous owners, free update for copies purchased after January 2026, available on Setapp, 33.9 MB, release notes, macOS 15+)

  1. FYI that is only for owners of “Unite 6, Coherence X5 or Quip“. I remembered that I’d gotten Unite 4 as part of a Bundlehunt sale in 2021, and Coherence X4 later that year, but alas they are not part of the upgrade deal.

Hi Valis - Unite creator here. While this is the official policy, I am pretty lax on this and usually will let it through regardless of which version it is.

  3. Thanks! I just upgraded with a license for one computer — with tax it came out to $28.30. I’ll probably have to wait a few months before installing, since I’m holding out to see if the just-published Gurman rumor about an iMac refresh later this year pans out. But I did want to support your development, and I already have a couple of use cases for the software. Thanks for chiming in!
