Step One: ![]() Begin with a picture (I chose Ashley Olsen) and resize it down to 100x100 pixels. This layer is now your base layer. |
Step Two: ![]() Duplicate your base layer and set the Blend Mode on Screen at 50% Opacity. |
Step Three: ![]() Duplicate your base layer again and drag it to the top. Set the Blend Mode on Soft Light at 50% Opacity. |
Step Four: ![]() Create a New Layer and fill it with #06065B. Set the Blend Mode to Exclusion at 50% Opacity. |
Step Five: ![]() Create a New Layer and fill it with #E3C5CD. Set the Blend Mode to Color Burn at 80% Opacity. |
Step Six: ![]() Flatten your image so far. This is your new base layer. |
Step Seven: ![]() Sharpen your image once. |
Step Eight: ![]() Select Auto Contrast (Image..Adjustments..Auto Contrast). |
Step Nine: ![]() Select Auto Color (Image..Adjustments..Auto Color). |
Step Ten: ![]() Select Auto Levels (Image..Adjustments..Auto Levels). |
Step Eleven: ![]() Create a New Layer and fill it with #B8A781. Set the Blend Mode on Multiply at 30% Opacity. |
Step Twelve: ![]() Create a New Layer and fill it with #456A98. Set the Blend Mode on Screen at 30% Opacity. |
Step Thirteen: ![]() Create a New Layer and fill it with #A3E2A3. Set the Blend Mode on Color Burn at 20% Opacity. |
Step Fourteen: ![]() Duplicate your base layer and drag it to the top. Set the Blend Mode on Screen at 40% Opacity. |
Step Fifteen: ![]() Now here's the cool part. It's optional, of course. Use the Polygon Lasso Tool to select a part of the icon you want defined - for me, it was her eye. Copy it, and paste it as a new layer at the top. |
Step Sixteen: ![]() Sharpen this layer. Set the Blend Mode on Normal at 80% Opacity. Blur any white spots with the Blur Tool. |
Step Seventeen: ![]() Flatten your icon. |
Step Eighteen: ![]() Select Brightness/Contrast and set the Contrast at +15 (Image..Adjustments..Brightness/Contrast)
