the details!

Please feel free to let people know about this plan - I want to get as many people together on this as possible, so the more, the merrier! But please use discretion as to where you post this information, only because Pete does spend time in the LJ corner of the world. So please don't post this to communities or anything, just to your own personal journals or emails or something.

OKAY. That said, here are the details as I've figured them so far.

  • Postcards should be sent so they will arrive in Illinois beginning on February 12, 2007. AND YEAH, OKAY, CHEESY, but that's Valentine's Day week, and hey, love for Valentine's Day! Amazing! If your postcard takes longer, that's more than fine - as long as it gets there, that's what's important. But having a large number of them arrive that week would make it even better.

If you're in the US, that means you should aim to get them out probably on February 9/10. If you're outside of the US, I would think you could mail them out in the first week of February? If anyone has more detailed info as to how long it takes, comment here and I'll add the info to the post.

  • The only content guidelines are as follows: content must be appropriate (i.e. no "your super hott and i wanna bone you!!!"). NOT THAT I THINK ANYONE WOULD BE INAPPROPRIATE, you know, but um, the temptation is certainly there for me. WHOOPS. So, just keep it PG and stuff and, whatever. This is probably a stupid rule to include, but I'd like us to look like grown-ups. Heh.

Also, to sort of unify our postcards, you should include at least the phrase "Pete, you mean something." And I was going to put a more specific phrase as a "requirement," but like I said above, the goal here is to raise his spirits and show him that he does mean something. If you want to just write that phrase or a variation of that phrase, that's completely okay. If you'd like to write more than that, that's even better. That's actually what I'd recommend, but again - if you want to keep it simple, that's seriously okay, too.

And as quettaser pointed out - if you're sending multiple cards, it would be best if you only wrote long "what your words mean to me" things on one or two of them, and then just a shorter "Pete, you mean something" on the rest, just to keep the underlying theme on all of the cards. Also, you might want to make sure you don't put phone numbers/LJ/MySpace names on your postcards.

  • You can make your own postcard or you can buy a postcard, either one works. There's also no limit to the number of postcards you can send - send just one or send ten, however many you'd like. I will ask that you please try to limit it to just postcards for this campaign, only because since there's not really a specific phrase requirement, I'd like to have a sort of unity to everything we're sending.

  • So yeah! Um, if you have questions/suggestions/anything, let me know. THIS IS GONNA BE AMAZING GUYS OMG.
