I'm in a constant circle of finding my life's purpose then getting bored or disheartened. Maybe my life's purpose simply is to acquire lots of art and craft supplies and feel overwhelmed by them. In which case I'm a huge success.

Oh my, this resonates, too. Think of it as a tasting menu of options - what do you fancy having a nibble at today?!

Helen's avatar

That's a good idea, I might give it a try - and make sure I tidy up at the end of the day so there's room for the next day's activities!

Fab! What’s first on the menu?!

The possibilities are endless!

And that’s a GOOD thing!!

Helen you are my craft clutter sister! 😆

😆😆 I'm sure there's a whole extended family of us out there!

‘……… and feel overwhelmed by them’. That’s me completely!

Oh dear, but at least we know we're not alone!

I definitely think, “This is it; I have found my life’s purpose!” I eventually get bored and move on to the next shiny thing…

But as I invariably circle back—after years sometimes—and fall in love with a different aspect of it all over again, I dare not throw *anything* away. I did once and it was very costly: I had to go out and buy everything again!

Izzy Moore's avatar

Same!! Exactly why I have to keep everything 😅

Over and over again I have found my life’s purpose, bought the materials, tools, equipment, only to have the next shiny thing pop up! Glad to know I’m not alone.🫤

If our life's purpose is to be interested in things and try stuff, you’re a pro!

I feel that you might like Arianne Zuchur - out if New York - mixed media sculptures. She has a whole series of 7 I believe. She does amazing slow stitch

Izzy Moore's avatar

Thanks Tracy, I’ll go and take a look!

I got started on snippet rolls and making fabric containers and embroidering them. They make lovely gifts and are so creative and satisfying to make. I always keep my eyes out for wooden spools. I get tired of making them but as soon as I find some more wooden spools I am off again. Also like doing small stitcheries. on sleeves and necklinesLoveyourposts Izzy they are so funny and delightful, always guaranteed to lift my spirits 💖🙏

That sounds lovely Marilyn! And thank you ☺️

When I take part in a class I am always the person that circles round collecting up other attendees ‘scraps’ to take home!! I almost have a ‘red face’ admitting that. I ‘grasshopper’ from one thing to another thinking I have been missing out for so long before I’m off to something else. But what a find when you discover something hidden away that you’ve forgotten about 🤩. Oh Joy!!!

Izzy Moore's avatar

I used to do that after class too, and I was the teacher 🫣

Definitely the second one...my workroom attests to that! Btw, said workroom is still looking so much better after Creative Chaos Club 😁😁 so thank you for the much needed incentive .

Izzy Moore's avatar

You’re very welcome!! What’s your latest shiny thing?!

Evelybird's avatar

Not sure but folded Scandinavian Stars are beckoning this morning 🥴

My pingy ADHD brain loves all the shiny, shiny new things. I'm trying very hard now to focus on developing what I'm working on ... But then I open a box or spot something on Pinterest and away I go off for a wander down another creative path.

It’s so hard isn’t it! So many interesting things to play with, not enough time. But it doesn’t really matter if we jump around, does it? As long as we’re happy and we’re not hurting anyone, in the end that’s what counts, I think. So crack on, and enjoy!!

Ah yes, I love learning new techniques, then coming back to them years later!!

I too have been pondering exploring making more 3D pieces, though looking back on what I have created even just in the past two years on my part time college art course I’ve already made a few!! 🤣

We are researching Jewellery this term, which has been interesting at times, but not so at others. Now we are gearing up to make, or at least creating a brief to make a piece of jewellery, the creative sparks are starting to fly!! 😊

Enjoy your wire work, and returning to Kim T’s books. I love all of mine, including one you sold to me…don’t ask me which one though!! 🤪

I look forward to seeing what becomes of your footling 💕

Sounds interesting! I used to make textile/embroidered jewellery bits a few years ago, still got all the findings (obviously 🙄). I wonder if the book is 3D Textiles 🤔 I’ve been looking for it this week but realised I must’ve sold it!!

I’ve had a look and it was Kim’s “Experimental Textiles” book I bought from you… back in 2020!! It was in September, so in-between lockdowns.

Weird how our lives were so different then!!

Ah! Seems like years ago and I guess it was!
