Think Bigger Think Better
Systemic, long-term thinking above the hype
I’m Paul Gibbons, contrarian, scientist, synthesizer of chaos and author of The Great Collisions (2026)
I began as a coder in the early days of Unix, traded derivatives in the pits of London, studied neuroscience and philosophy, was IBM’s future of work thought leader, and advised CEOs on the leading technological change.
Today, I track The Great Collisions: the turbulent intersections where Intelligence meets Biology, Markets meet Energy, and Science meets Society.
My Methodology: My work is built on three decades of stress-testing ideas.
The Philosophy: In my book The Science of Successful Organizational Change and Truth Wars, I dismantled the pseudoscience that plagues business and culture. I bring that same rigorous, evidence-first lens to the hype cycles of AI and biotech.
The Dialogue: On my podcast Think Bigger, Think Better, I spent years debating philosophers, scientists, and economists. I don’t just consume information; I interrogate it.
The research: I read books that matter, follow scientific journals, read what fellow thinkers say, and talk to CEOs about their struggles - all so you don’t have to.

Situational Awareness: Not just what is happening, but why it matters to the whole system.
The Monthly Deep Dive: A rigorous, evidence-based teardown of a specific collision (e.g., ‘The Economics of Ozempic’ or ‘The AI Energy Crisis’).
No Hype: I am a scientist first. I care about the data, the incentives, and the second-order effects.”
The Great Collisions project
Our current research focus is The Collisions of 2026: a deep dive into how markets, medicine, science, intelligence, and enterprises are changing rapidly and interdependently with consequences for business leaders and concerned citizens.
Here are 4 sample chapter titles:
1. Synthetic Civilization
“Beyond Biology: The Architecture of a Synthetic Civilization”
(Focuses on the blurring line between the ‘born’ and the ‘made’—and the societal structures needed to support it.)
2. The Wellness-Industrial Complex
“Immortality as a Service: The High Cost of the Wellness-Industrial Complex”
(A critique of the shift from medical care to endless, anxious biological optimization.)
3. Markets
“The Algorithmic Invisible Hand: When Code Allocates Capital”
(Explores the collision of traditional economics with autonomous agents and high-frequency AI trading in 2026.)
4. Science
“The Death of the Hypothesis: Discovery at the Speed of Compute”
(How AI is shifting science from human-led theory to machine-led pattern recognition—and what we lose in the process.)
About Paul Gibbons
I am a polymath, keynote speaker, and author (most recently of Adopting AI), writing from above the fray. My work helps thinkers and builders leverage what AI can do for us, while avoiding what it can do to us.
