Book review posted!

Good evening, Write Edge readers! I’ve posted my latest book review for you. Today I share my thoughts on the YA dystopian climate fiction book The Danger of Small Things by Welsh author Caryl Lewis. Here’s the opening to my review:

A young woman forced to live in a government facility after society collapses learns that she and the others in the compound are being used as pawns. With her head full of memories of her family and her hands itching to pursue her art, she decides to take a chance to set off a revolution. Author Caryl Lewis returns with a book that closes itself off to readers by using the wrong narrative point of view in The Danger of Small Things.

Counting words…

Posted on

Hello, Write Edge readers! I’m here to update all of you with my word count from last week. I didn’t quite make it to 2500, but I did write 2171 words that I’m proud of. Also, when I’ve gotten into the right groove of a story I’ve always felt like it’s like having my ear to the ground — almost literally — of my characters’ hearts and lives. Last week I experienced that after four false starts to the story, so even though I didn’t make my personal goal for the week I’m excited to get back to it this week!

Tomorrow on Instagram I’ll share my #bookreviewpreview for what I #amreading for this week’s review. Check that out, and then come back on Wednesday to The Write Edge Bookshelf to read the full review and my thoughts on this week’s book. Then on Friday I’ll (try to) post to Instagram little bits and pieces from my writing and non-writing life. I was in such a groove of that last year and let that slip away from me, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed it’ll actually happen this week.

Thank you for all your support and for continuing to come back to the blog, readers! Your support is what, in part, keeps me going. :>

Have a great week!

My newest book review now up!

Posted on

Hello, Write Edge readers! I’ve posted my latest book review for you. Today I share my thoughts on the middle grade novel When Tomorrow Burns by veteran author Tae Keller. Here’s the first part of my review:

Three friends who have access to a special book that predicts the future grapple with the challenges of growing up. As they deal with confusing situations and changing friendships, they will have to figure out what’s important to hold on to and what they need to let go. Author Tae Keller’s prose is as beautiful as ever in a book that is at times confusing in its goals in When Tomorrow Burns.
