THE QUILL RETURN WITH “MASTER OF THE SKIES"

Swedish hard rock veterans THE QUILL (The Quill) are back on May 8, 2026 with their brand-new studio album "Master Of The Skies", released via Metalville (EDEL).

“Master Of The Skies” opens another chapter in the band’s long-standing dialogue between groove, heaviness, melody, and power - but this time with a noticeably darker tone. The songs shift between light and shadow, tightening the screws one moment and going full throttle the next. Heavy rock with depth, character, and attitude.

Think Sabbath’s crushing weight fused with the swagger of classic heavy rock - delivered with the lived-in confidence of musicians who’ve seen it all… and still keep their amps cranked.

The band once again teamed up with Erik Nilsson at 491 Studios, capturing their sound with precision and punch. No reinvention. No nostalgia trip. Just The Quill doing what they do best: writing heavy rock songs that stand firmly on their own.

Magnus Ekwall: “We focused a lot on the atmosphere. Some songs needed space and restraint, others wanted to explode — I liked letting light and darkness decide how far we should go.”

Christian Carlsson: “We didn’t force a ‘Quill sound’ this time. Each track found its own identity, even if that meant stepping into unknown territory.”

Roger Nilsson: “This album was truly created as a band. Everyone shaped the songs, and that naturally brought contrasts.”

Jolle Atlagic: “We experimented more in the studio. Some ideas stuck, others didn’t — but that’s what gave the album its dynamism.”
