Masis Usenmez

Masis Usenmez, EFIAP, GPU CROWN 2, is a Turkish-Armenian photographer based in Rennes. Born in Istanbul in 1979, Masis rekindled his passion for photography in his thirties, eventually earning a BA in Photography from Anadolu University in 2013 and a Master’s from Marmara University in 2019.

His work—focused on street and documentary photography—explores the poetry of everyday life. He’s known for using shadow and light to craft surreal black-and-white images that blur the line between reality and dream. Since 2008, Masis has roamed the streets of the world to document people, places, and fleeting moments that often go unnoticed.

He has received over 300 awards and honors in international photography competitions, with exhibitions across Turkey, Europe, and the U.S. Among his notable accolades are the Grand Prix from Collectif du Hérisson and the Photofolie “Noir et Blanc” Award in 2020.
