The Nields Spring
Passim with High Tea, NYC and Philly here we come!
Hi friends,
Tickets for our February 28 Passim show with High Tea are going fast! We can’t wait for our collab with these amazing musicians and people, Isabella and Isaac. Fireside with The Nields and High Tea will be a harmony extravaganza.
Then we’re off on a big tour! For us, anyway. On Saturday March 7, we’re going to be at City Vineyard in Manhattan overlooking the Hudson River. This will be our third or fourth time playing this lovely venue. The food is great and the sound is exquisite, so trek on over. We love New York and were both born and partially raised on this skinny little island.
Then we will turn the clock forward and skip on over to Wayne, PA to play at 118 North, a sweet club just a few blocks from our sister Abigail. Maybe we’ll even get her up on stage with us. And Wheelzie is going to open the show!
Speaking of Wheelzie, they opened our Iron Horse show and slayed the audience, then turned around and played bass for our entire set! We were joined by Katryna’s other child William on lead guitar and Nerissa’s daughter Lila on violin. Rounding it out was the amazing Nate Mondschein on drums. I probably say this after every Iron Horse show, but this one was my favorite. If you were there, thank you for singing along to Bella Ciao. If you weren’t there, guess what? It was video’d. We’ll be sharing clips of it going forward. Also, the amazing Carly Rae shot hundreds of photos like this one:
Our Welcome Table Chorus is in the middle of our Winter Session and will return to Bombyx on March 31 to do a fundraiser for Center for New Americans and Jewish Family Services. We might be fifteen hundred miles away from Minneapolis, but the families we know in our own city are under siege. It’s a frightening time. If capitalism, as George Saunders says, plunders the sensuality of the body, then fascism plunders the humanity of the soul. It plunders our very sense of selfhood. Let’s resist that. To that end, we have been learning the Italian anti-fascist song “Bella Ciao” in our chorus, and we decided to end the show with it at the Iron Horse. Below is some footage shot by our friend Grant Sullivan.
Take exquisite care of yourselves,
Nerissa and Katryna
