Practical steps, not shiny promises.
I do some of my clearest thinking outside when the Scottish weather cooperates.
If you’ve ever thought, ‘This should be working… so why isn’t it?’ you’ll probably recognise yourself in a lot of what I write.
There’s advice everywhere, right? Strategies, systems, opinions and all delivered with confidence. Everyone seems sure they’ve cracked it. And yet, a lot of people are still stuck, working hard, and wondering why things aren’t coming together.
I created this Substack as a place to reflect, and get to the heart of what matters.
What this newsletter is about
I write about online marketing and building an online business in a practical, grounded way.
Some posts will be about content. Others might be about traffic, sales, audience, or decision-making. The topics will change, sometimes quite a bit. What doesn’t change is how I look at things.
I’m not interested in trends for the sake of it or copying whatever happens to be working for someone else this week.
I care more about why people behave the way they do and what really leads to action. And how to make clearer decisions without getting pulled in a dozen different directions.
In other words, fewer distractions and more perspective.
A wee bit about me
I’ve made pretty much every online marketing mistake there is. And those failures turned out to be my best teachers.
I'm still figuring things out, and passionate about helping people find their own path in business minus the fluff. I care about traffic, content, and sales, but only when they're approached in ways that actually make sense and don't leave you confused.
I don’t promise shortcuts. I try to be honest about what takes time and what actually makes a difference.
Who this is for
This newsletter is for you if:
You’re building or growing an online business
You want ideas you can think about, not advice you feel pressured to follow
You’re tired of advice that looks good on paper but doesn’t hold up in real life
You care more about progress than appearances
If you’re looking for hacks, guarantees, or big promises, this won’t be your thing and that’s okay.
How often I publish
I publish every week.
Each newsletter focuses on something you can actually sit with and think through, rather than skim and forget five minutes later.
Why subscribe
Subscribing is free.
When you subscribe, new newsletters land straight in your inbox, so you don't have to remember to check back. Over time, this becomes a useful place to think more clearly about online marketing and about what you're building
If that sounds helpful, you’re very welcome here.
