who sang along to the radiohead song at the beginning of House's new episode?

/SHOOTS HAND UP

Met up with an old friend a few days ago and... well. Her art style has changed 180 degrees since the last time I saw her. Last time it was budding, but it was original and I was excited to see what it had evolved into but haha it turns out she ditched it.

She ditched her style to practically copy a very popular fanartist from DA. I'm not gonna name them cause their identity is irrelevant but there's a high possibility you've seen their works already if you're on DA and you stick to the anime/manga crowd.

I'm just. Really fustrated right now. Yeah I'm not her. She's not me. But what the fuck. She had something really going for her there and she just kicked it to the curb and curbstomped its face in. I told her I liked her old style and she was all "OOOH you're just saying that o/~"

And lol. No I'm not. I don't bullshit to friends.

Reasons Why I Hate It When People Carbon Copy Styles

1) YOUR INDIVIDUALITY JUST CURLED UP AND DIED: I see so much potential in people. SO. FUCKING MUCH. IT HURTS. Style and technical skill ARE NOT THE SAME THING. STYLE IS YOUR SOUL. YOU MUST FORGE YOUR OWN PATH. When you copy a style you are interpreting a set of qualities and transfering it into your own vision. This is awesome for learning techniques from old and new masters and evolving your own style. But when you copy something just cause you like it and just LEAVE IT LIKE THAT without adding in any of your personal touches, then to me that's just soulless. It just mindless jacking off and frankly I find it a waste. People could be doing so much more damnitdamnitdamnit )o)

2) IT DOES NOT HAVE DEPTH AND IT SHOWS: The art people see on galleries are just a mere FRACTION of the stuff the artist has done to get to the point where they are now. I've seen copiers and their stuff has something that's a little off. Like they fulfill the visibile guidelines and hints that are provided by the artist they copied off of but there's something fundamental missing.

3) ORIGINAL STYLES ARE MORE DYNAMIC: An original artist has never drawn a seriously old dude like say: Walter Bishop before in their style and neither has a copier. Which one has the easier time drawing Walter? The original person of course. Their style isn't an artificial filter to them. There's no guessing games here.

4) NOTHING REPLACES THE FEELING OF AN ORIGINAL STYLE: It's just that feeling in the core of your soul and in the tips of your fingers that is so incredibly satisfying. You don't need to think. YOU JUST NEED TO BE. My style's a mishmash of everything I like and when I draw stuff it perfectly projects the essence of what I want. It's ridiculously satisfying. Nothing speaks to me more than my own style. I can't imagine giving it up for something else. IT'D BE LIKE LOSING MY SOUL OR WEARING SOMEONE ELSE'S SKIN. :c

I don't know if I come off as pretencious but lmao I honestly don't give a shit if I do. THIS IS HONESTLY HOW I FEEL. I JUST WANNA BITCHSLAP EVERYONE WHO'S A COPIER.

EVOLVE FROM IT. YOUR POTENTIAL IS SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT. :C
