Welcome to the AWFC

We are a community of composers and colleagues dedicated to supporting and celebrating the work of women and gender diverse composers through advocacy and education.

Increasing visibility is key to promoting equality in the industry and bringing diverse voices to film, television, video games, and multimedia projects.

We proudly host the AWFC directory which provides filmmakers and decision-makers access to composer talent.

Explore our weekly Composer Spotlight, featuring short interviews with our members. Check out Monthly Inside Session Panels on Youtube, and follow us on Social Media!

AWFC X L-ACOUSTICS IMMERSIVE-CREATIVE PROGRAM:
A program created in collaboration with L-Acoustics for 2025, eight composers (four from the United Kingdom and four from Los Angeles) were selected to compose or re-imagine a piece in L-ISA — the immersive studio and spatial audio technology developed by L-Acoustics. Each composer is invited to an educational workshop session, an individual immersive final mix session and hands-on support from the team at L-Acoustics. These works will be celebrated in a very special evening of music and conversation with the AWFC cohort at the L-Acoustic studios in London and Los Angeles respectively.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE:
In partnership with Mamas in Music, this initiative is designed to connect caregivers facing similar challenges, providing a dedicated space for conversation, resources, and peer support. We are starting with an online community platform where members can engage in ongoing discussions and connect with others who share their experiences. As we build this together, we envision opportunities for live group chats, resource sharing, and more, shaped by the needs of our community.
