Abington Heights graduates 278 seniors in Class of 2026

Sweltering heat and thunderstorm watches could not dampen spirits on June 11 during Abington Heights High School’s 110th commencement. The ceremony took place behind the high school, instead of at the traditional location, “The Pit,” to provide shelter in case of storms. Fortunately, Thursday afternoon featured sunny, blue skies that held out long enough for the 278 graduating seniors to toss their caps in the air.

Lackawanna Trail confers 60 diplomas to Class of ‘26

Pleasant temperatures and soft breezes set the tone Monday evening, June 8, during Lackawanna Trail High School’s 70th commencement ceremony. The class of 2026 processed into Lions Pride Stadium at approximately 6:30 p.m. to the music of Sir Edward Elgar’s “Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1,” played by the Lackawanna Trail Concert Band. Sixty students earned their diplomas, with one-third graduating cum laude and five earning advanced placement capstone diplomas.

Clarks Summit hosts Summer Solstice and Strawberry Festival

CLARKS SUMMIT — The borough hosted its Summer Solstice & Strawberry Festival, celebrating the season with a sweet, fun-filled weekend featuring a farmers market, bake sale, and a variety of local vendors offering handmade goods, tasty treats, and one-of-a-kind finds. Attendees were able to enjoy live music, face painting, sidewalk sales, and family-friendly fun — including a crowd-favorite pie-eating contest and the adorable Strawberry Strut Races for kids.

SCRANTON — Avery Venesky and Isabella DeRiggi were both in the starting lineup and the two Abington Heights representatives in the Field of Dreams softball game combined to get on base in three of four plate appearances for Team White during an 8-3 loss to Team Purple June 23.
