An excellent editor: very feature rich, yet easy to use!

This is a wonderful application. A very simple new feature will make it perfect for me, and healthier for everybody. I would like that the background color in the pdf could be user selected. A non-white, appropriate background, will help to examine the pdf with less eye and mental tiredness. This should be very easy to implement (I hope!). Thank you for the great job.

Can I make a couple suggestions? Is it possible to have any non-command text in math mode be a different color? Sometimes when I have several $'s in a line, it's hard for me to tell if I'm putting all the right things in math mode or all of the wrong things! Also (and I don't know how difficult this would be) is it possible to have a "Close Environment" shortcut which when hit will identify the nearest \begin{…} and will automatically insert a \end{…} to match it at the current cursor location? Thanks for fixing the cursor problem. Also, I'm not sure in which update this was handled, but I no longer have the PDF viewer hanging -- it would require that I restart the program every 15 minutes. I had to step away from using the program for a while because of that, but now it's working very well. Thank you for your efforts.

On the face of it this seems like an awesome app, until I realised that it needs a separate TeX package of software totalling over 2 Gb! Why so big? Because it's basically a complete graphics and rendering engine that grew out of Unix but isn't optimised for OS X. I'm a scientist and I'm familiar with and use some of the packages at work but I don't see this as a solution for the Mac environment. The TeX environment will never take advantage of OS X technologies as they evolve because it isn't dedicated to the Mac platform. I want software that's built with, for and uses OS X. This software looks like it does an admirable job of being a front end for TeX but in the end that's all it is. Ultimately, if you write for work it's the content that's important. All the journals have staff that convert it in to publishable format.
