Legal Information
In recent weeks, legal aid organizations across Texas have experienced greatly increased case volume, and you may experience delays in response time. For help representing yourself in your eviction case, legal information on the eviction process can be found below:
- Overview of the eviction process
- How to respond to an eviction lawsuit (file an Answer)
- How to appeal an eviction
- What to do if your landlord has locked (or threatened to lock) you out of your home
- What to do if your landlord has turned off your utilities (or threatened to turn them off)
- If you have an eviction hearing, but need more time to prepare or speak with an attorney, learn how to ask for a continuance.
Finding Your Local Legal Aid:
If you still need help, we recommend reaching out to your local legal aid for assistance with your eviction issue. Who your legal aid organization is will depend on where you live. Please see below for how to determine your local legal aid.
