Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: A jounin (elite) rank ninja, Temari uses her fan and chakra to attack from a distance with wind based attacks. These are typically in the form of chakra sharpened wind, which acts like blades to cut through things. Whirlwinds are used sometimes to toss opponents around. Wind manipulation in most forms is possible with her element affinity, including being able to use her fan to glide short distances. She can also summon Kamatari, a one-eyed weasel, to help her in her attacks. Her strength is long range attacks, but she will also use her fan to deliver blows when fighting at close quarters. She's been known to level entire forests when attacking, so self-restraint and finesse are probably not her strengths in battle, but raw power is. In close quarters, she's as capable as any other shinobi in terms of taijutsu (hand to hand combat). Genjutsu (illusions) is a weakness for her, and something she does not have a lot of experience with.

Character History:
Temari is the oldest of three siblings, daughter to the Kazekage (leader of the ninja village she lives in). Her mother died giving birth to her youngest brother when she was three. Both she and the middle brother, Kankuro, were terrified of the youngest, Gaara, who was the vessel of a demon. Gaara was unstable, living only for himself and killing without a second thought. Temper tantrums in their household often ended in blood and crushing sand.
Temari was 12 when she graduated from the ninja academy, and 15 when she went to the Chunin exams with her siblings. Fandom suspects that she was held back from graduating to chunin to keep her with Gaara. Her village's participation at the exams was a front. During the exam, her village launched an invasion attempt on the hosting village, Konohagakure. Her brother Gaara was supposed to be the secret weapon. The invasion failed and her brother was defeated. It was revealed that the Kazekage, her father, had been killed and replaced with an imposter. The two villages worked out a new treaty when the dust cleared. Her brother started to gain control over the monster he carried and became the Kazekage two years later. Temari helped to keep the peace between the two villages by acting as a liaison and graduated to jounin rank.
When Akatsuki attacked her village and took Gaara, she was in Konoha on a mission. She returned with some of her allies to rescue her brothers. She was ordered to stay out of most of her brother's rescue, but was there when he was resurrected by Chiyo after having the one-tailed beast removed. Since that time, she has been staying close to him in Suna, supporting Gaara as he adjusts to the loss of Shukaku and continues on as Kazekage. When Gaara went to the meeting of the five Kages, Temari and Kankuro were his two allowed bodyguards. They were given a front row seat to Madara's plan, Sasuke's attack, and Danzou's betrayal. The three siblings have just carried the message to Kakashi about being the acting Hokage, and gotten Naruto up to date on the latest Uchiha shenanigans.

Her team has caught up with Naruto and the rest of the Konoha group and delievered the message about Kakashi as the acting Hokage, Danzou's betrayals, Madara's plan, and the current opinions around Sasuke. At this point, she's heading home with her brothers to prepare for war. She's written off Sasuke as a complete loss that needs to be put down like a rabid dog, and is impressed with the way Naruto has grown.

Temari is a tactician and diplomat, first and foremost. She is hard working and dedicated to her position in her village and to her brothers. In particular, she watches out for her youngest brother Gaara, who is the Kazekage (leader of the Hidden Village she lives in). She was raised to be a shinobi, and the culture and beliefs are hard wired at this point. Between her jounin rank and the position as oldest sibling, she carries responsibility well and is very comfortable taking charge. Her way of the ninja is to protect and support her family and, by extension, her village no matter what it costs. Even when Gaara was still considered a monster, rejecting her as a sibling, she turned and went into a fight she knew she couldn't win in order to protect him. And laughed about it.
Her attack style and sense of humor are both vicious and sharp. She has no issue with laughing at others, or even herself. She enjoys a good fight, and a worthy opponent will bring a smile to her face every time. Years of living with a child that was called a monster has made her pretty much unflappable. Gruesome scenes that would make a seasoned warrior wince only make her wonder how she will get that off the walls. It takes a lot to rock her. Even when she is rocked, she refuses to let anyone see her weakness and will bury it until she has a chance to deal with it. Quick to toss out an insult, Temari is hard to make genuinely mad. Once it happens, her temper can get the better of her.
She is sharp, sarcastic, and can be almost crass at times. This kunoichi does not suffer fools gladly, and has no issue with calling it as she sees it. Temari has mellowed with age and time as a diplomat, giving her the ability to fall into the formal, logical speech that would be expected around politicians. That does not mean that she won't smack her brother Kankuro on the back of the head and call him a moron. It just means that she might not do it in front of everyone. Unless he really deserves it. She isn't the type to talk about her feelings or other 'mushy' topics. When pushed, she's likely to answer in a way that masks what she's actually thinking.
Past her duties, she cares deeply for her brothers, who are her team and only family. She does not make much time for friends, but a few have managed to wiggle their way into her life. Her cold and sometimes violent childhood has left its mark, but it's not something that she will share. She prefers to leave the past in the past so that she can focus on her duties. With two younger brothers and no real parenting, she has something of a surrogate mother role in the trio. Underneath the vicious exterior, Temari has a strong maternal instinct that has her worrying about her brothers and trying to care for them, even if they're both stronger than her. This caring underneath the sacrcasm is spotted with several people that she has ties with, including Shikamaru and Naruto.
Character Plans: After figuring out that she cannot, in fact, get home to her brothers and her village, Temari will feel completely lost. Her life revolves completely around thost two things, she hasn't allowed herself any other entanglements that might distract her from her brothers and duty. She will need to rebuild, preferably with an existence that is a bit more balanced. This is a chance to undo some of the programming that came with her upbringing, and let her see some other ways of life. I'd like to see her in an office job, starting out as some executive's secretary and working her way up through brains and balls. She's the weakest of the three siblings, it would be good for her to have a chance to shine instead of staying in her assigned role, right behind Gaaara. It will also be a chance for her to branch out and socialize. Considering her workaholic tendencies, she'll need bonds to lure her back out of the office. Or drag her out forcibly.
At the same time, she's a shinobi to the core. Bred, born, and raised. She'll continue to train and keep up her fighting skills. She'll just let that be one facet of her life, rather than her entire focus. Very useful, considering the rough town she's going to be dealing with. Should help keep muggers off of her, and fighting monsters in the night will help to keep her in tip top condition.
