Adam announces affiliation with new charity!

We wanted to be the first one's to tell you of Adam's brand new partnership with the amazing non-profit charity charity: water.

The charity: water organization was formed four years ago with the goal to help bring clean, safe drinking water to developing nations. To date they've funded 3,811 water projects across the world, providing water for 1,742,331 people in 17 countries. In the four years since inception, charity: water also has raised more than $22 million to run their organization, launch educational campaigns and fund their water projects.

Clean, safe drinking water. It's something that a lot of us take for granted, but almost 1 billion people on the planet (1 in 8 of us) don't have access to it.

Unsafe water and lack of sanitation causes 80% of all diseases and kills more people than all forms of violence - including war. It's also responsible for the claiming the lives of 4,500 children per day.

It's a staggering statistic, especially when you find out $20 can give one person access to safe and clean water for 20 years.

That's why we'd like to encourage you to make a simple donation instead of sending Adam birthday gifts.

Adam has set a personal goal to raise $29,000 by his 29th birthday (January 29th, 2011) and we're hoping to meet and / or exceed his expectations. The $29,000 will provide access to safe drinking water for approximately 1,450 people.

Donating is not a requirement, and we understand if it's something you can't do. In return, we ask you to consider spreading the word about Adam's new cause to your friends and family.

Here are a few important things to know:

* 100% of donations to charity: water directly contribute to water projects – every cent will be directed to the field, they even pay back credit card costs.
* Every water project built from Adam’s campaign will be marked on Google Maps with GPS coordinates when finished in 12-18 months. Every donor will be told exactly where their donation went and can see GPS coordinates and photos.
* The average cost of a water project is $5,000 and this will provide sustainable access to clean water to 250 people.
* Adam’s goal of $29,000 will provide access to safe drinking water to approximately 1450 people.

Water changes everything.

* Water transforms communities. Preventable waterborne diseases are drastically decreased. Long walks to muddy rivers and swamps are no longer necessary. Time spent collecting water is reduced, offering women a chance to earn an income and children a chance to get an education.

You know how this works. If you have something to offer make a thread with your offering, and then people interested in sponsoring you can respond. You can offer fic, art, icons, lj headers, twitter backgrounds, poetry, anything you can think of. (Example: For the laptop drive someone made badger badges.) So, You Want to Join teamlambliff...

This community has moderated membership! Please read the membership guidelines carefully before applying. New membership applications are processed pretty much every day, but at least once a week.

Membership Guidelines

01) Your LiveJournal account must be at least 3 months old when you try to join.
02) Your account must be active. If it appears to be relatively unused (no comments, minimal comments, no picture/interests/friends etc), your membership will not be approved. This rule is very loosely enforced.
03) You must read the community rules. Clicking the join link is a statement that you have both read the rules and agree to abide by them.

People are exempt from the 3 month rule if someone in the community vouches for them.
I never want anyone to feel excluded, and I understand everyone's journal is new at some point. Please know that the membership rules are there to protect the community members, and not to exclude people.

If you were rejected, it's for one of three reasons.

01) Your journal is not active or wasn't at least three months old.
02) You've been removed from the community for bad behavior on a prior occasion.

Rules & Guidelines

teamlambliff is a social community dedicated to fan interaction and discussion relating to the fabulous pairing made up of Adam Lambert and Tommy Joe Ratliff (we also discuss/flail over them separately, and pretty much anything else loosely related), as well as the rest of the band and people who run in those circles. We are the original Tommy-related fangroup.

We post a Badger Discussion Post for general discussion. However, we welcome individual posts as well. Almost every kind of post is welcome here: picspams, fic, fanart, you name it! I just ask that if you are going to post every day that you post a weekly roundup instead to keep from burying other member's posts.

There are only three kinds of posts that are not welcome in teamlambliff:
01) "Where can I find _______?" These questions can be answered in the BDP.
02) Introduction posts. People are encouraged to delurk in the BDP.
03) Posts involving other communities. You can advertise in the BDP, or ask at the contact-a-mod post if you have a special project you want to post about. Pretty much everything is ok, I just want to know first.

01) Remember the golden rule - treat people the way you would want to be treated.
Being mean to any member isn't tolerated, and this includes outside the comm. I want people to feel safe flailing and socializing here.

04) What happens in teamlambliff stays in teamlambliff.
Posting screencaps from the community or copy-pasting information into other communities or websites is, has, and always will be against the rules. Capping or copying original works for use in other communities or websites - including fanfiction, fanart, and other graphic works - is very much forbidden.

05) Trolling and/or bullying will get you banned.
This isn't a democracy and never has been; breaking the rules means there will be consequences, just like everywhere else in society. Rule breaking will result in a warning, and eventual removal from the community if you persist. What you do other places online does matter. Our fandom is small, and it does matter if you are being mean to other members outside the community.

Dictionary Terms:
Lambliff: Adam/Tommy as a pairing, romantic or otherwise. You may see some people call this pairing by another name. It is Lambliff here, because we started the ship.

badger assassins: The official teamlambliff name for Tommy fans, badgers for short. We do not have numbers. Nor do we ever claim his body parts. The name is exclusive to teamlambliff fans. If you're not an active member, you're not a badger.

spaceshipping: The act of shipping Lambliff, stemming from Gagagate 2009 and our chant of "I WANT TO BELIEVE." The community definition is as follows.

spaceshipping is non-srs bsns discussion of why two people are together, no matter if you believe they're actually fucking in real life or not. It's about having a good time, our boys, and the unfing they bring on a daily basis.

Basically? It's all-inclusive shipping. We don't care what you personally believe as long as you keep it fun!

(Sorry if you caught my earlier formatting!fail post. It didn't seem to let me add/remove tags after the initial posting, so trying again.)

ONOES A FANVID.

This is the one I started ages ago smack in the middle of my Summer of Glam, and then had to replace things and redo things and then totally fix all of it because the aspect ratios (and thus border sizes) didn't match, and then it turns out that on YouTube there's a big nasty border anyway but idec anymore because it's done enough and finallyyyyyyyy.

So yes. If you don't know the song "Bad Touch" or, you know, aren't familiar with the goings on in the Glam Nation tour at all, FYI this is NSFW. It's me wanting to make a sort of cracky pornvid featuring bassfap and making out and the Glambulge.

GIVING CARD UPDATE
A couple weeks ago we won the second place Giving Card for gaining new donors during the DonorsChoose sub-contest. We voted here to give the card to the most urgent projects, and after consulting with the creepers they agreed. Over the last few days I've distributed the giving card to our most urgent groups. Here's what we funded:

Project: Getting Fit In 4th Grade
Materials Supplied: balls, hoops, jump ropes, and other outdoor physical activity materials for 4th graders
FULLY FUNDED

Project: Water For the Workers
Materials Supplied: water bottles for moderately-to-severely disabled students who are learning to function in a work environment
FULLY FUNDED with our donation & matching offer from FEED USA

Project From Seed to Service: An Organic Gardening Project
Materials Supplied a plant lighting system to grow organic vegetable and flower seedlings in a school garden
PARTIALLY FUNDED by us, now fully funded by others & a matching offer

THE END OF GLAM-A_CLASSROOM
Glam-A-Classroom will end on September 21th with the end of the US tour. Right now we still have 4 open projects remaining on our Giving Page and unless they are funded before the end of the tour I am going to refrain from adding any more. I'd rather see us get what we already have started funded first. Make sense?

TOMMY'S GROUPCARD
Obviously the overseas GlamNation tour is going to put Tommy out on the road for a while and I don't know when or if he'll be checking his post office box. (If someone gets to talk with him before/after a show anytime soon can we try and ask if we can still send stuff to his box while he's overseas? I want to be sure the box is still valid.) It will also take a while to edit, organize, and print the card.

I'd like to have everyone who intends to sign the card to do so by October 1st, then we'll start talking about printing options, costs, and shipping. DONORSCHOOSE UPDATE

GUESS WHAT? WE WON.
As you guys will remember, last month DonorsChoose.org added an extra element to their Glam-A-Classroom project. Anyone who donated in the two weeks prior to August 20th was entered in a drawing to win a meet & greet with Adam. The second element of the contest was that the top 3 team leaders with the most new donors through his or her Giving Page won a large Giving Card to DonorsChoose.

I was just notified that Badgers & Creepers For Charity came in second! Out of all the Glam A Classroom leaderboards, we had the second highest number of new donors in this time period. A LOT of work, promotion, and advertisement went into this, and I want to thank happy_1225 and rae_1985 for helping me whenever I asked. They are good times.

Because YOU GUYS are the ones who pitched in what you could and made it happen, I'm asking for your thoughts on how to spend the $350 Giving Card. There are two ways we can do it; please vote before Sunday which is when I plan on applying the Giving Card. We want Creeper opinions too since you guys are just as much a part of this as we are - for those of you who aren't LJers and can't vote, discuss it with your mods and let me know and I'll definitely add those voices to the poll weight.

Methinks I've been lurking long enough! High time I posted something here. By the way of macro and ficlet! =D

My partner-in-crime eaivalefay defies all logic and is able to extricate the most ridiculous things from me. She sent me a picture of Adam arriving in Helsinki. My brain pretty much spit out this macro in response:

And I then lost her for about five minutes (to laughter, she says). Then she responded with, "you know u want to fic it?" which was rapidly followed by, "a quick and dirty airport scene" and then "where the band's powwowing about getting out with Stealth, captial S."

How could I not write a ficlet for that scenario?

Disclaimer: Yeah, this never happened.
Summary: Adam's always done his own thing. Sometimes, others get sucked in as well.

"Okay, so we just walk straight through, right?"

There were nods of agreement from everyone at Lane's words. Tommy was all for that. After a brutal flight like that and everyone laughing over something on Neil’s laptop, he was ready to just get to the hotel, crawl into bed and sleep until he absolutely had to wake up.

"Just right through. No stopping, no saying hi, as much as you want to. You guys can do that after the performance, all right?" Lane pegged Adam with a hard look. "Got it?"

"Yes ma'am." Adam nodded his head briskly.

When she looked around at everyone else, there were nods. Tommy elected to just look at the ground and grunt in response. Satisfied with the answer, she started walking. They got through customs, handed in slips of paper, and headed off to grab their luggage. Monte and Longineu were first through with the smallest things.

Tommy had no fucking idea how those two always managed to cram what seemed like an entire life into one piece of checked luggage.

Cam had snagged two luggage carts and shoved one towards him. "Heads up."

"Missed." Tommy gave a tired smirk as he raised a foot and let the cart collide with his foot.

Cam just waggled her eyebrows and watched the carousel turn. Tommy stared absently at it as Adam moved in closer to him. He didn’t say anything for a few minutes and then,

"Not even one autograph?"

Tommy slid a glance at Lane who looked frazzled beyond belief. He was pretty sure that was partially the flight and her wondering what Adam might try to do.

"Sure. But I didn't know you had a death wish. Hell, I think even Neil might murder you if you did that."

And as if to speak of the devil, Neil's luggage came thunking down the chute and landed on the carousel with a really loud thunk. Tommy raised both eyebrows when he spotted the broken wheel.

"Goddamn it." Neil groused. "They can fly over three thousand miles, but they can't not break something on one piece of luggage. What the hell..."

Tommy barely managed to hide his snicker as Neil stomped off and watched as more luggage came down onto the carousel. When he spotted a pile of black luggage come down, he frowned, squinted and then said, "Alright, we're up."

They grabbed their luggage, tossing it onto the carts. Though, Cam loaded up her and Lane's things. Adam followed suit, tossing his stuff onto Tommy's cart as well. They started walking for the door, when Lane glanced at Adam.

"Straight. Through."

The words were bitten off and enunciated so clearly, Tommy thought he spotted a razor's edge between them. He heard Adam mumbling something in agreement. Tommy just ducked his head and hoped that there wasn't a massive crush of people.

He saw the video of when Adam went to Japan and the insane crush of people at Narita who showed up just to get a fucking glimpse of him.

They approached the doors, and when they slid open, Tommy was relieved to see practically no one there. There were a few people lingering, and one girl in a striped red and white shirt. Cam was looking straight ahead and walking at a fast clip. Lane lingered beside Adam, as if she could, by sheer willpower, keep him walking.

And then...

"Hi there!"

Tommy glanced up and already saw Adam's turning to face the girl in the striped shirt. He could hear the smile in Adam's voice. Then he glanced over at Lane and saw the pissy expression on her face.

He sighed and bit at his lip. Fuck his life, Lane was going to murder Adam. He watched as Cam disappeared into the airport before he looked back at Adam. He was chatting with the kid, signing her album and just being himself. The girl looked ecstatic and chattered back happily about loving his album and saying how her dad was awesome because he got her tickets to the performance later on that day.

However, when the girl dragged her dad forward and Adam shook his hand and started talking to him, Tommy could practically see the vein on the side of Lane's neck throb. He coughed a bit and angled his luggage cart in closer to Adam. Maybe it was his proximity to Adam because the dad started talking.

Started talking to him.

Tommy just nodded, made generic sounds of agreement and blinked in surprise as the husband explained that his wife was a fan of him from his Eat The Crow days - something was babbled about bit torrent - and that she was at home with their son who was sick.

And Tommy glanced over at Adam who smiled. Then he glanced back at Lane who looked ready to drag them off by the hair to get them to the car. So he looked back at the dad, dug into his pocket. There was a single, used guitar pick there. He stole Adam's Sharpie and initialed it.

"This okay?" he asked as he offered it.

The girl squealed and the husband grinned and honestly, Tommy was kinda starting to see why Adam did this as much as he could.

Though even Adam looked a bit surprised when Tommy found himself saying that he'd keep an eye out for them after the show.

As if on cue, Lane came up behind them and herded them off quickly. She hustled them to the pick-up spot, where Cam was waiting patiently, with an empty luggage cart.

"Adam, are you picking up Scandinavian boys again?" Cam grinned at him.

"No. Just an autograph. Tommy Joe here invited a family."

"And we're running late!" Lane snapped as she started loading up Adam and Tommy's luggage into the other car with some help from the driver. "Let's hustle gentlemen."

Cam grinned as she got into her car. As soon as Adam and Tommy's luggage was loaded up, Lane bolted into the car with Cam and it took off. As if that was his cue, Adam burst out laughing as he opened the car door. Tommy left the luggage cart on the curb and got in. Adam got in, slammed the door shut and a few minutes later they were following Cam and Lane's car.

"So," Adam turned to look at him. "Just straight through, huh?"

"What?" Tommy said a bit defensively. He rested his head against the back of the seat and rubbed his brow. "Her dad started talking to me. Not like I could just ignore him." And then after a moment, he threw out, "You started it."

"I didn't think you'd invite them after the show." Adam moved in closer to him.

Tommy rolled his head to the side, to get a better look at Adam. "Hell, her mom was home with her brother who's sick. Or faking it. You know kids sometimes."

Adam barely smothered a laugh. "Family man."

There was a funny look in Adam's eye that made Tommy go red. He mumbled something, possibly "Bullshit" and "Not so bad to fucking care, y'know."

An affectionate smile came to Adam's face as he reached over and ruffled Tommy's hair. "I didn't say that. Just... you constantly surprise me you know."

Tommy raised an eyebrow at that. "I think we all need some fucking sleep."

That got a laugh from Adam. His hand trailed down Tommy's hair, moving along the side of his face. Adam's fingers lingered for a moment on his chin before pulling away. Tommy didn't want to think too hard about why the loss of contact felt so wrong.

"I won't argue with that." Adam said quietly as he stifled a yawn. "Though, I think Lane might kill me for sleeping in the car. You don't think so, do you?"

Tommy was quiet for a moment before he answered. "I think she might if you start talking to the driver."

Adam’s tired laugh brought a smile to Tommy's face. Finland with Adam was gonna be great.

We have done a really awesome job so far and we have a lot to be proud of! To date we have either funded projects or currently have open projects in all 50 states! We still have some time to go, however, and I'd like to see us crank it up even more if we can.

I just got an email from DonorsChoose stating that they are adding extra elements to the contest. Read on:
★ From now until Friday, August 20th at midnight EST, any individual who makes a donation to Glam A Classroom will be entered to win a Meet & Greet with Adam
★ They will also be holding a contest to see which fangroup has the most new donors between now and the 20th. The top 3 fangroups who have the most new donors will receive DonorsChoose gift cards to fund extra projects. 1st place gets $750, 2nd place gets $350, 3rd place gets $150.

This is in ADDITION to the prizes they are already giving away.

So to break it on down, what do we need to do here?
★ MAKE A DONATION. Visit our Giving Page and, y'know, give. Even if it's just $1 between now and the 20th, it will enter you in a chance for a meet and greet with Big Al.
★ ENCOURAGE NEW DONORS. If you've never donated, chip in $1. If you know someone who might donate, ask them. (Nothing on our DC page is shippery if this is a concern for you.)

"Okay, Ashleigh, I'm so broke I'm starving and I'm a hermit so I have no friends who will donate," you might be saying. Well. Bing is still handing out $3 Giving Cards. Let me say that again in even bigger font.

SON OF ETA: HOW TO DONATE THROUGH BING
01) Visit the Help Bing Give to Schools website and click the "Choose Bing and Donate" page.
02) Enter your email address, check the box, and hit the "Get Your Donation Code" button.
03) In a few minutes you will have a code in your email. Highlight & copy it.
04) Visit our Giving Page and pick a project. You can also choose to contribute to the most urgent project or contribute to multiple projects.
05) Type in a 3 in the box of your choice, add it to your cart, and hit check out. Then hit check out again.
06) On the next page, there's a box labeled "Enter your giving card." This is where you'll paste the code you got from your email. Hit redeem code, then "Place My Donation."
