The Freelance Educator’s Trap
Why Being a Great Teacher, Trainer, or Coach Isn’t Enough to Build a Great Business
You started teaching, training or coaching because you have a gift.
You love seeing that “lightbulb moment” in a student or client.
But no one told you that being a freelance educator meant you’d also have to be a full-time marketer, an unpaid accountant, and a desperate lead-generator.
If you feel like you’re on a treadmill - working harder just to stay in the same place - you aren’t a bad business owner. You just haven’t been given the right map.
This is Teach Train Coach.
I'm Rachel, and I help online freelance educators move from “gig workers” to “business pros.”
Whether you teach ESL, corporate leadership, or creative arts, the physics of business are the same.
When you subscribe (for free), you get:
The Weekly Roadmap: Actionable strategies on pricing, curriculum design, and client acquisition.
The Referral Engine: My proven PDF guide to getting your first (or next) 5 clients through word-of-mouth.

I wrote a book about the ups and downs of working as a freelance online teacher, trainer, and coach.

Being a Great Educator is Your Craft.
Building a Great Business is Your Freedom.
As a freelance teacher, trainer, or coach, your “approach” is everything.
But let’s be honest: building a thriving online business is about more than just delivering a great lesson; it’s about creating a client-attraction engine that works even when you aren’t “on the clock.”
Every detail - from your first discovery call to your final invoice - shapes the trust you build and the rates you can charge.
Stop guessing, start growing.
A strong business strategy isn’t about perfection; it’s about consistency.
If you’re struggling to articulate what sets you apart or feeling capped by your current client load, you don’t need more “hustle” - you need a better system.
I’m here to help you bridge that gap.
This site is your headquarters for real-world stories, proven systems, and the “behind-the-scenes” tactics that turn freelance educators into business pros.
Stop Hunting for Students
Start Building an Engine
The difference between a struggling freelancer and a thriving educational consultant isn’t how well they teach—it’s their system.
Most educators are stuck in the “hustle trap,” jumping from platform to platform, hoping to be noticed.
There is a more dignified, low-stress way to grow.

Yes I am busy, back-to-back as you say, but I'm on course to earn more this year than since I started freelancing in 2014. Yes it's full on, but watching those Euros slide into my savings account feels mighty fine. Your AI timesavers have not only saved me time, but also made lesson planning fun again. As for my 'evergreen' projects, sadly not brought in a cent so far... to be continued!
