This year I've been busy!

Last Monday I committed genocide... Sorry about that, kaurin (-5000 points). Last Tuesday I gave mykaa a Dutch Oven (-10 points). In April I donated bone marrow to childofcaprice in a life-saving procedure (300 points). Last week on a flight to Vancouver, I stole the emergency flight information card (-40 points). In May I signed my organ donor card (28 points).

Overall, I've been naughty (-4722 points). For Christmas I deserve a moldy sandwich!

After I saw Jurassic Park when I was a kid, I dreamed of owning my very own T-Rex so that I could ride to school and all the kids would think I was sooooo cool. I would tether it to the flag pole until it was time to go home, and then I would ride it home. I WOULD STILL DO THIS.

Worst movie you've ever seen?
In the Name of the King. I had never heard of it, but Matt wanted to go see it. Seriously the worst movie I have ever seen. The trailer makes it look almost bearable. It was so bad that we laughed through the whole thing, and I maintain that it is the funniest movie I have ever seen to date.

NEW CAAAAAAAAAAAR YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH Mom and dad got it for me for my graduation present. <3 It's a Nissan Sentra and it is really super dark brown. They got it on sale liek woah so I have a reliable car for job hunting since my Camry hit 207,000 miles and is dying on us. I will miss Camry, though. :( It's been a good car with good memories, such as:

Discovery of the universal password - Flamboyantly Gay Javert - with Shannon which for some reason unsticks stuck air fresheners and nobs
Going to the park with Shannon and stopping by McDonald's beforehand for fries and sweet tea <3 Such a healthy and delicious meal
Finding that spider on my steering wheel that time when going somewhere with Shannon and Corinne, and then when Corinne tried to kill it, it fell on me and we pulling into that gas station all screaming and all jumped out of the car and were flailing around and I'm sure that homeless guy walking along at the time though we were crazy
Always coming close to hitting that "Slow School Ahead" sign near Shannon's house

Song of the Somethignorother - Week 6

This week's song is "Half in Love with Elizabeth" by Mystery Jets. They're a British Indie band I recently found while clicking around on youtube, and their music reminds me of some of the 80s/early 90s stuff. Also, the lead singer looks like Edward Scissorhands.

I love this video because it is so ridiculous.

I learned something interesting in my Chaucer class today. We started talking about the new immigration bill in Arizona, and according to at least 1/3 of the people in the class, racial profiling is not racist, nor is it racist to judge someone based on their race. That's not exactly what they said, but that is what their arguments boiled down to. F'rinstance, according to one girl it is perfectly OK for the police to pull over someone who is acting suspicious - say for the purpose of argument someone of Mexican decent - and ask them for proof of citizenship or their green card or whatever when in the same situation you wouldn't ask for papers from a white person, and this wouldn't be racist because if the person was here legally they would have nothing to fear.

So... it's not racist to ask someone to prove their in the country legally when you are asking them because of the color of their skin? I knew the standard for critical thinking around here was pretty low, but damned if this doesn't take the cake.

Sometimes I really hate the South. :|

Song of the Whatever - Week 5

This week/month/whatever's song is "To Feel the Fire" by Gackt. This song always makes me laugh and reminds me of high school/early college and singing it with my dear cosine xxrunwithitxx and my best friend Corinne. Of course, we sing the misheard lyrics (ie. YOU CAN MAKE A BUNNY HOP IF YOU CAN RIDE DA GOOSE) and screeched FIYAA FIIIIIIIIIIIIYAAAAAA FIIIIIIIIIYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA at the top of our lungs in a terrible Engrish accent. Song of the Week - Week 4

This week's song is Alexi Murdoch's "Orange Sky." I first came across this song a few years ago in the trailer for Paradise Now, which is incidentally my favorite movie of all time (trailer makes it look like an action movie, which it really isn't >_>;). Anywho, after we watched the movie in the history of terrorism class I was taking at the time, I went to look up the trailer on youtube to show it to someone to convince them to watch it and fell in love with this song. I rediscovered it on my hard drive about a month ago and it got me on to the rest of Alexi Murdoch's music.

What I particularly love about Alexi Murdoch is his very laid back, mellow, and effortless sound. This is my perfect bedtime music. I think his lyrics are great, too, but they wouldn't have the same impact without his sound. He combines the two elements very well.

I can only find the album version of this song on youtube. My favorite version of the song comes from Paradise Now. I have it downloaded, but I'm too lazy to upload it to youtube myself. XD

Now to go finish that sims update I've been working on for like the past three weeks. ._. I hate term paper time.

Song of the Week - Week 3

So I forgot to do this for the past few weeks. >_> Bad me.

Anyway, this week's song is "Parade" by Heypenny. (I was actually looking for "Dooley," but I couldn't find it.) Anyway, I was listening to campus radio and one of their songs came on, and I wasn't really paying that much attention until I started hearing, "Goooo, moped, GOOOOOOOO!" I lol'd and when I got back to my apartment I started looking up some of their other stuff, which is actually pretty good and quirky. I chose "Parade" for this week because the video makes me laugh. XD

Song of the Week: Week 2

This week's song is "Cygnus... Vismund Cygnus" by The Mars Volta. I will admit that TMV takes some getting used to. XD I can't remember exactly how I first came across them, but I remember it was late in high school, and I think I had stumbled across "The Widow" on the internet. I remember asking Shannon about them, commenting on how long their songs were, and her saying something along the lines of "Ugh, you won't like them. "The Widow" is OK but the rest of their stuff is nothing like that and is just ugh." But lo and behold, I figured out that I like weird stuff and ended up liking their music. XD

TMV has a very different style from everything you're used to hearing on the radio, and it sounds all over the place at first. My favorite thing about them though is that they switch suddently from one time signature to another drastically different time signature in the same song with little to no warning. It keeps you on your toes. XD They also have cryptic lyrics, so I always have fun trying to figure out what the hell they're actually saying. I also like that some of their songs, like this one, are bilingual and incorporate a Latin-American sound.

This isn't the full song. They can't fit the whole song on youtube, so they cut off a bit of the annoying weird noises at the end. I'm adding the lyrics and translation since their lyrics are so odd that it's hard to figure out what they're saying without them sometimes.
