I'm so excited/ singing!

YAY! I'm so freakin excited right now, I'm like a hyper little kid.

Ok, singing for Kar Records, was a bust. I didn't like any of their music and I decided we weren't going to work out. Then a producer from Nashville was interested in me coming and "trying out" for him after he heard my stuff. He liked me a lot and paid me nice compliments and was going to pay for my studio time himself. My mom and I were going to drive down there.

Then after some soul searching, I decided I didn't want to pursue Nashville because I didn't want to leave my kids alone all the time. So I decided to stop singing. This was like 5 months ago.

Fast forward to a bar in town two weeks ago. Sitting there drinking tequila with my friend, ended up talking to some man about karaoke. Told him about the site for online karaoke. Mentioned briefly I had almost decided to pursue singing seriously. Then he got interested. Turns out, he is the owner of the bar, is a keyboard player and has been looking for a female vocalist to just play with at his places. He owns a bunch of bars in town. So I'm like ok, sounds interesting (especially after he said I'd be compensated for a babysitter and drinks) so... I e-mail him a couple of my songs. Turns out, he really loves me! So.... I've sent him a few songs, but today I was like - well it's no fair that you get to hear works in progress, I want to hear you clanking away too. So he just calls me and plays "listen to your heart" and "my immortal" and BY FREAKIN GOD THIS MAN CAN PLAY THE PIANO! WHOOT!!!

I was bouncing around on my porch the whole time just cheesing. Whoooo. He's played in like 2 bands previously. But wow, I'm so freakin impressed. And what else is cool is he's like "yeah I don't mind playing the bars occasionally, but a lot of the restaurants around town and lafayette pay for performers too" and so I was like "well I guess it's good I met you because you probably have a lot of connections" well, turns out - he does! he said he also has connections at the casinos - where you can make a lot of money singing! OMG! OMG! OMG! So I'm super psyched right now. This is so much more up my alley. My dreams are not huge, I don't want to get famous, but if I could get out of the house once in a while and freakin sing at casinos, and make side money - wow that would be so much fun. Ok. Whew. Our first rehearsal is on TUESDAY!!!! Wish me luck that I don't suck!!!

Today was a very productive day. Brad and I worked for almost 8 hours solid nailing up the back part of our wooden fence. I can not WAIT until it's completely up. It was very satisfying work, oddly, nailing nails in the wood for hours. Almost therapeutic. :)

I went and got my nails done yesterday! For the first time ever! I got an American manicure, they're medium to long, and absolutely gorgeous. I've been embarrassed of my nails a lot lately, even going so far as to hide them from retail people. That's just pathetic. I chew on them, I never take polish off, so I decided to just get some nice ones. I really like them and my husband even admitted HE really liked them too and would like me to keep them. I warned him it could be something that requires lots of maintenance. Took a day to get used to the feel of them, but I'm comfortable now.

Seriously, livejournal needs a random subject generator like yahoo mail. I don't know what subject to put when I don't really have anything to say! We have Destinee coming into town tomorrow. We're probably all going to go to the chili cook off they have in town on Saturday. Can't wait! Love some good Chili. My friend, Karen, came down last weekend, with her husband Dan. He is sick and not doing well. We ended up going to the Tabasco factory and doing a tour. We live like 5 minutes from that place, it's funny. I have upgraded from a 10 gallon aquarium to a 30 gallon aquarium. My fishies are much happier now I think. It's all sorts of pretty. Blue rocks that seem to glow, a bubble wand, two filters, big rocks, pretty plants, and of course - the fish! All koi. We're actually digging a pong in our backyard to build a koi pond at some point.

We are ALSO putting our fence up in the back now. We're going to have a tall wooden fence in the back, and hurricane fence going down the sides. (cyclone) It's a lot cheaper, plus we get lots of hurricanes, so if we can avoid putting up wooden fences over and over, that would make us happy.

I made a few new layouts for livejournal today, applied one to mine, and felt the need to update. yay. Has anyone checked out Carrie's and I's new website? I don't even remember if I mentioned it. This is our main source of money right now. I'm sure I told ya'll.. http://www.1bestdesign.com - isn't that crazy that name was available? We also purchased onebestdesign.com . :D ok - ttyl.

wow - after introducing myself to the graphic design and web design world, things have just taken off! It's amazing. Let me see if I can briefly put them down for though.

1: IdeaTree. Carrie has been working relentlessly at this site, improving it, adding new stuff, ect. It's amazing. She's a genius. I have continued to put "freebies" up while she did that. We actually have like 7 myspace layouts up now.

First of all - we're going to put up templates for myspace for sale - really nice ones. $20 a piece. Another site does this, only has 30 to choose from, makes $500 a week. That's one source of income we're looking at for the future.

2: My new friend Brandon, is building my http://www.solosing.com website for me. It's a lot of red right now, but so cool! he's doing it in the latest technology. We need an investor to complete the devolopment (about $5,000) but he happens to have a multi-millionaire uncle he's going to present the idea to.

3: mydesignsformyspace. We're also going to put myspace templates up for sale on his site too - again, residual income.

4: EBAY design. Carrie and i have started designing e-bay stores! We're getting paid a pretty hefty amount to do it - and we're expecting the amount to double in about a month.

5: we're thinking of branching into our own ebay design and actually getting even more money from that!

6: plus - I have that contract thing that should go through in January.

My life is so full and blessed right now - I just pray I don't neglect my family and we all stay healthy.

I'm never on livejournal much anymore, although I do need to put a freebie out there for my community asap. I have some layouts on our website though.

Ok, everyone. Take care. If you like graphic design - check out scriptlance. This is how I met all these ambitious people who are kind enough to take us on a ride.

<3

Is all excited and build a clone of youtube so I don't doubt his abilities.

Second, I had an independent recording label contact me on singsnap. They'd been advised to do a talent search on there. They're based in Florida. I talked to the woman on the phone tonight. They're interested in giving me a contract in January for one year five songs. They write their music. They want a country 'bluesy' person. EEKE OIWU#()$(@#@Jwiosdkljd. So yeah, I don't know how I'm going to sleep. They're not a big label, and haven't been open long, but they're getting five new people in January. I just record at a studio in town or from my house, they digitalize it all. Sell downloads on the internet, and hope to break it mainstream with some of their stuff. I'd get 25 cents a download.
My mom just called me. She started working at a children's home about a year and a half ago. I TOLD her she was going to end up adopting a child. Well there is this one little 12 year old boy, Matt, that she mentioned about six months after she started working there. And she just called me today to tell me she's going to adopt him!! I'm so happy about it for some reason. She speaks really highly of him, and I just think it's great. I want to adopt one day too!!! Well I've followed eerily in her footsteps so far, maybe this is just something else that one day I'm going to follow. Seriously. When I'm in my forties probably.

I really can't wait to meet him and I hope he's really happy in our family. Awwwwww. I just get watery eyed thinking about it.

My psp9 died on me. I have tracers all over my screen from Brad's high tech computer game. I tried to uninstall his game and repair my program, didn't work. I tried to take the game out of the computer disc drive, and the whole computer shut down, came back on and said it had recovered from a serious error. I tried to put in my psp9 cd and shut it in, shut the whole computer down again. *cries*

We're broke right now! I need extra money, and the only way to get extra money is with this damn computer. Now it's BROKEN.... D:

I don't know what to do. There goes all my design and web design work until something is fixed. Might be WEEKS OR MONTHS til I can get a new computer or whatever the hell it needs. I really wanted to get my wedding ring re-set. Guess that's not going to happen now.

My Mom Sent Me This: The Memory of an Elephant

In 1986, Mike Membre was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from Northwestern University. On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with one leg raised in the air. The elephant seemed distressed, so Membre approached it very carefully.
He got down on one knee and inspected the elephant's foot and found a large piece of wood deeply embedded in it. As carefully and as gently as he could, Membre worked the wood out with his hunting knife, after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot.
The elephant turned to face the man, and with a rather curious look on its face, stared at him for several tense moments. Membre stood frozen, thinking of nothing else but being trampled. Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned, and walked away. Membre never forgot that elephant or the events of that day.

Twenty years later, Membre was walking through the Chicago Zoo with his teenaged son. As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and walked over to near where Membre and his son Cantri were standing. The large bull elephant stared at Membre, lifted its front foot off the ground, then put it down. The elephant did that several times then trumpeted loudly, all the while staring at the man.
Remembering the encounter in 1986, Membre couldn't help wondering if this was the same elephant. Membre summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing and made his way into the enclosure. He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder.
The elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of Membre's legs and raised him high into the air and slammed him against the railing, killing him instantly.

Probably wasn't the same elephant.

I found an AWESOME freelancing website. People put up websites they need built, then you bid on it along with other companies and freelancers. It's called scriptlance.com. I've been on there 3 days and already got paid a $100 just to come up with the DESIGN of a website. She didn't even want me to code it, just wanted the images and a mock. WOW! I charge a $100 to actually BUILD the website too. She said she had more stuff coming my way as well. Mentioned 3 more by name! EEK! I'm so excited!!!

Also, I called my voice teacher and told her I didn't have it in the budget to take lessons from her right now, but I wanted to. I said "I have an offer for you though, you may not be interested in the idea, but I think it's an idea you should think about" I told her I do freelance web design in my spare time and would be willing to create a website for her in exchange for some free lessons. SHE LOVED THE IDEA. It's totally happening and she's putting together stuff right now she wants on the site. She e-mailed me to today and told me she had thought more about it and was getting really excited about it because people in the past have asked her if she had a website. So awesome! Free lessons! She also told me today that she has ANOTHER job on the side and it's a resume writer. How neat is that? She can help me sell my work better as I'm coming to find out I have absolutely no skills with writing. :(

In OTHER news, I came in first on an online singing contest and won a new microphone! Whoo hoo.
