The breach transcends a typical data leak, into a catastrophic failure of custodianship over the most sensitive digital dialogues, occurring in an app that prominently advertised “enterprise-grade security” and GDPR compliance.

The root cause was a dangerously common error in the app’s use of Google Firebase, a mobile development platform.
