[Hiccup has been reading. He's been reading about anatomy, about machinery, about astrology. One subject bled into another, filling his sketchbooks with notes and copies of charts and references to consider. He's learned so many things in seven months, and though his understanding is skewed and still so primitive, he's starting to see the big picture for what it is.

Hiccup really appreciate science. It's given names to thinks he's already observed, and handy little equations for figuring out what he hasn't. It's helped him create his own circuit boards, understand perspective when drawing, and helped improve his hand-fashioned weapons.

The only possible problem is the blow it's dealt to his belief in the supernatural.]

Are Gods real, or are they...just a way to explain things people just...don't understand yet?

[Underage drinking may be a no-no in modern, civilized society, but where Hiccup's from? It's practically a staple of every-day life.

Now, on average, he's not one to drink. He's tiny and doesn't like the taste of ale and has had plenty of negative experiences to hold up and point to as 'good reasons not to get wasted'. Really, he hadn't gone in intending to get drunk. It's not his fault the pear wine was delicious. Or gave him massive heaps of warm-and-fuzzies. And it's certainly not his fault he ended up drinking so much, I mean, people kept handing him glasses. The rude thing would've been not to drink, am I right?

The drunk really didn't affect his tendency to bleed into the scenery, though. He contently people watched, even as his depth of field gradually shortened with every cup. For a party? Yeah. Wasn't half bad.]

There’s some clicking of keys, then a pregnant pause.]

[Hiccup the Viking promptly tosses the comm into his bag. After another pause, he speaks again, voice now muffled by the fabric and leather between him and the mic.]

[Hiccup hefts the pack back over his shoulder and the objects inside shift. They collide with the comm and the entry is ended.]
