~~ A Tales of Arcadia fanfic series ~~
One step to the left, and young Waltolomew Strickler wouldn't have been kicked by a cranky horse and exposed as a changeling. But he was—and Douxie gave him a ride past the city gate guards.
How would Tales of Arcadia change if Strickler and Douxie were involved and on team Trollhunters from the beginning?
How would they both change if they had each other over the centuries?
Book 1 - Take My Hand
Featuring the young, inexperienced, and very suspicious changeling Waltolomew Strickler, and the wizard and dragon familiar pair of Douxie and Archie: Take My Hand takes place centuries before Tales of Arcadia canon events. You don't need to know much of anything about the show to enjoy it. It's very character driven and does not feature canon-typical action. The vast majority of the violence happens in dreams and memories.

Book 2 - Find Your Way
Young Walt is trying to balance fear of the changeling organization (and their assassins) with building a human life. Douxie can't believe he could be a protector, teacher, and mentor. They support each other through the centuries as they both heal from their pasts—and both take on life-changing tasks.
Find Your Way picks up where Take My Hand left off: Walt is a journeyman carpenter who did his apprenticeship in Bern. Where in Take My Hand he was mentally ~14-15 at the start (but looked about 5 years old), here he starts at mentally ~16 but his human form looks about 18.

About
Inspired by the short piece "A helping hand", I... kind of started to write a novel. Then a trilogy. Anyhow, here it is. It's also being published on AO3 and Squidgeworld, if you have accounts there.
Relevant lore is summarized on its own page if you haven't seen the show recently (or at all). A few things are mentioned without explanation that someone who's seen the show can be expected to know, but not all that much for books 1 & 2.
There are bits of a goblin conlang created by BabbleKing here and there in the story. Goblin-language words which are not names get a hovertext translation, or tap if you're on a touchscreen.
Some of my research sources get their own page as well, if you're interested in where I got some of the information in my "historical notes" at the bottom of some chapters.
I've also started posting canon information for the shows. The fan wiki is incomplete and unreliable. Transcripts are complete; I've started filling in other pages.
Eternal thanks to my friend the Failed Patriarch, whose enthusiasm for helping me workshop plot ideas and grasp of story structure are extremely helpful in making sure I'm saying what I want to say. All honour to you, cha'Dich.
