Navigating Research

How can academic institutions support both researcher wellbeing and high-quality research? What can individuals do to tackle the problems that arise as a result of research culture?

For my first podcast episode, I was fortunate to interview Edgar Huitema.

Edgar shares his expertise and background in supporting the professional development of researchers and promoting their wellbeing. Drawing on his roles as a PI, Head of Postgraduate Studies and Director for the Professional Doctorate Programme at the University of Dundee, Edgar offers a perspective which comes from first-hand experience.

Whether you are staring down the start date of your PhD or running your own group, this episode contains insights and advice for researchers at every stage.

I highly recommend Edgar’s The SuperAdvisor newsletter, which examines the PhD/supervisor relationship and provides strategies for both PhD students and their supervisors, to help them get the most from this partnership.
