TABE is committed to supporting the next generation of bilingual educators and professionals who will lead with purpose, cultural awareness, and linguistic excellence. During TABE Con & Expo 2026, we will award 10 scholarships total, with two recipients in each category: Undergraduate Scholarship, Graduate Scholarship, Carlitos Scholarship, José Hernández Legacy Scholarship, and Dr. Joe Bernal and Mary Esther Bernal Scholarship. These awards recognize students who demonstrate academic promise, leadership, and a commitment to advancing bilingual and multicultural education. Through these scholarships, TABE aims to reduce financial barriers and invest in future educators and professionals dedicated to serving multilingual communities and strengthening bilingual education.

The TABE Outstanding Dissertation Award recognizes exemplary doctoral research that contributes to the advancement of bilingual, biliterate, and multicultural education. This award highlights scholarship that demonstrates rigor, innovation, and meaningful impact on the education of multilingual learners, while also reflecting a commitment to equity and excellence in the field. Through this recognition, TABE celebrates emerging scholars whose work informs practice, influences policy, and strengthens the knowledge base supporting bilingual education. Eligible dissertations must have been completed within the past two years. All applicants must reside in Texas and have earned a doctoral degree conferred by a Texas higher education institution. Eligible candidates are encouraged to apply and share their research with the broader TABE community.

The 2026 TABE Teacher of the Year Awards honor outstanding educators who exemplify excellence in bilingual and ESL instruction at both the elementary and secondary levels. These awards recognize teachers who demonstrate exceptional commitment to student success, innovative instructional practices, and a strong dedication to advancing bilingual, biliterate, and multicultural education. Nominations are open for the Elementary Bilingual Teacher of the Year and the Secondary Bilingual/ESL Teacher of the Year, celebrating the impactful work of educators across grade levels. Please note that only TABE affiliates are eligible to submit nominations, and individual nominations are not accepted at this time. All nomination materials and portfolios must be received by 11:59 PM CT on June 1, 2026.
