GUESTS

Dee Fish, Terri Libenson, Jamar Nicholas

Dee Fish is a Pennsylvania-based cartoonist best known for the semi-autobiographical weekly webcomic Finding Dee, about the ins and outs of coming out as a middle-aged transgender woman while trying to make it as a cartoonist. She was also an inker on the long-running Dick Tracy comic strip.

Terri Libenson is a New York Times bestselling author and award-winning cartoonist. Her syndicated comic strip The Pajama Diaries (King Features, 2006-2020) won the 2016 Reuben Award for Best Newspaper Comic Strip. She's also the creator of the bestselling middle-grade series Emmie & Friends, which has been translated into twenty languages. Terri lives in Cleveland, Ohio.

Jamar Nicholas is a Philadelphia-based cartoonist, author, and educator dedicated to empowering young readers through visual storytelling. His middle-grade graphic novel series Leon the Extraordinary (Scholastic Graphix) features a creative kid navigating school, friendship, and self-discovery. Special Keynote Guest Speaker: Jim Davis

10:15am Jim Davis on Getting the Word Out, aka Brevity is the Soul of Wit

Jim Davis

Renaissance Columbus Downtown Hotel - Hayes ABC

๏ปฟAfter producing a globally syndicated comic strip every day for nearly 50 years, Jim Davis shares what he's learned (in retrospect) about keeping the Garfield readers engaged. Jim will describe how he approaches the creative process to best serve a unique art form that appeals to a unique audience.

Jim Davis, the man behind the Cat.

In 1978 Garfield made his syndication debut in 41 newspapers. Today Garfield is read by over 200 million people worldwide and holds the Guinness World Record for the "most widely syndicated comic strip".

Davis's peers at NCS have honored him with the Best Humor Strip, the Ezie Segar Award and the coveted Reuben.

When not writing and producing the comic strip, Jim spends his leisure time with his wife (Jill), kids, grandkids, and a golf course or two.

11:30am  Toon Talks: TED-Style Presentations by Cartoonists

Renaissance Columbus Downtown Hotel - Hayes ABC

Five cartoonists. Five big ideas. Ten minutes each. Inspired by TED Talks, this fast-paced session features short, focused presentations on creative breakthroughs, business pivots, technical innovations, and career insights. Topics range from process to publishing, from style to strategy. After the presentations, join table conversations with speakers to dive deeper into the ideas that resonated with you.

After the session wraps at 1pm, you are welcome to continue the conversation, doodle, play games, or hang out. Lunch is on your own (or with friends!), unless you are a Chapter Chair attending the annual Regional Council's meeting and luncheon at 1:00pm.

๏ปฟ
