When we started running the AI GTM Pulse survey. Some early signals were clear. 1️⃣ AI usage is high 2️⃣ But it’s not embedded into processes That’s the adoption gap. We say adoption is high because everyone uses AI in their day-to-day for small tasks, but can we really classify this as organizational AI adoption? From our first few questions: - Most respondents are using AI regularly - But far fewer have it built into daily GTM processes We’re just not making it past the individual usage level. We’re about to validate (or break) a few assumptions about AI in GTM: Common Assumption: “AI is widely adopted across teams.” Challenge: Usage is high... but mostly at the individual level. Operationalized AI is another story. Common Assumption: “We’re pretty advanced in what we’re using.” Challenge: Most teams are still one-off prompting and using one-off assistants, not creating workflows that eliminate the human in the loop. Common Assumption: “Automation is absolutely happening.” Challenge: True workflow automation is rare. Most don’t know what it looks like. Common Assumption: “AI initiatives failed because the tech wasn’t there yet.” Challenge: They fail because of ownership, enablement, and measurement. This is the pattern we’re seeing: → Individuals are ahead → Teams are inconsistent → Leadership thinks they’re further along than they are That gap is why AI projects keep stalling. Most teams think they’re further along with AI than they actually are This question will expose that fast Because “maturity” isn’t how many tools you’ve bought It’s how AI actually shows up in your GTM motion Let’s define this clearly: → Wild West experiments Ad-hoc usage. Random prompts/GPTs. No governance. No repeatability → Assistants in pockets A few individuals are using AI consistently, but nothing standardized across the team → Connected workflows AI is embedded into specific processes (prospecting, follow-ups, CRM), with consistency → Automated insights AI is driving actions, surfacing insights, and influencing decisions across the GTM engine ❌ Most teams say they’re at level 3 (connected workflows) The reality? I often hear about AI “wins” - quick wins, this was cool… But ask one simple question: “What did this do to pipeline, conversion, or cycle time?” And things get very quiet Because most teams never defined success in the first place So AI becomes: → A productivity tool (maybe) → A cost center (definitely) → A story we tell without real evidence That’s not progress. It’s a shoutout The teams actually seeing ROI from AI did one thing differently: they tied it to outcomes from day one → Pipeline generated → Conversion rates improved → Sales cycle reduced → Win rates increased No metric = no priority No priority = no scale There is a massive gap here between teams experimenting with AI and teams actually driving revenue with it So let’s make it clear.
