CLEVELAND - The Collegiate Event and Facility Management Association (CEFMA) is proud to announce the winners of its 2020 Event Manager and Facility Manager of the Year Awards.

Event Manager of the Year Award: Zach Eckert, Assistant Athletics Director for Facilities & Operations at West Virginia University        Â

Facility Manager of the Year Award: Andy Crerar, Assistant Athletics Director, Facilities & Event Management at the University of North Texas   Â

"It is with great honor that we recognize Andy and Zach for their tremendous work in our industry," stated CEFMA President Matt Oberlin, associate athletics director for capital projects, facilities, and event management at Central Michigan University. "Our line of work is, by nature, a behind-the-scenes business. It is always fantastic when we get to spotlight two very deserving leaders within our CEFMA membership. Our board congratulates them on their success."Â

The Event Manager of the Year Award recognizes an athletics administrator who has hosted an inordinate number of events/championships on their campus over the course of the year and strives to enhance the quality of the experience for participating institutions and guests.

ZACH ECKERT
Eckert currently serves as the Assistant AD for Facilities and Operations at WVU while overseeing women's soccer, men's basketball, rifle, rowing, wrestling, and swimming and diving. In addition, he served as tournament director for the 2019 NCAA Rifle National Championship, which held a record-setting crowd of 2,215 during a four-day long event; it also marked the first time WVU has hosted an NCAA National Championship. Eckert also served as the meet director for the 2020 Big 12 Swimming/Diving Championships, which was an inaugural event for WVU as The Aquatic Center at Mylan Park just opened in October 2019. Just one week later, Eckert coordinated the three-day long NCAA Diving Zones at the same venue. Eckert began at WVU as a graduate assistant, thriving and advancing to his current role. In 2017, Eckert's work ethic allowed him the opportunity to be recognized as one of 150 recipients across WVU's campus for its Value Coins program, which recognizes faculty and staff who go above and beyond to make the University a better place. Â

The Facility Manager of the Year Award, is intended to recognize an athletics administrator that has gone through extraordinary efforts working on and completing construction and maintenance projects on their campus. Â

ANDY CRERAR
During 2019 Crerar played an integral part of a banner year for the University of North Texas Athletics Department. From huge contributions that led to the completion of two capital projects (a $16.65 million Track & Field/Soccer Complex and a $18.9 million Indoor Practice Facility), a programming document for another capital project (a proposed $25 million Athletic Center renovation) and multiple maintenance projects, to successfully hosting multiple Conference USA Championships and athletic events. In addition to his significant role of the completed projects, Crerar serves as the lead for the athletics department's maintenance project team, successfully completing multiple facility maintenance projects including a new softball batting cage and bullpen, significant concrete repairs at Apogee Stadium and renovations to the basketball arena. Crerar also played a great role in the successful completion of the 2019 Conference USA Men's & Women's Basketball Championship and 2019 Women's Soccer Championship.  Â
