Australia on track to eliminate cervical cancer ‘in a decade’

Australia’s sophisticated new screening test for cervical cancer is picking up cancers that would have been missed by the old test, according to a study published in the British Medical Journal.

In the first two years of its use, the new test detected 546 cervical cancers of which 90 would have been missed.
