My ratings will probably change over time and after rewatches
Scared the shit out of me in middle school and still holds up surprisingly well. Some really greats shots in the latter half too. The colors are really muted throughout but there’s some fantastic use of lighting and shadows that feels almost Lynch inspired at times.
One of the finest television series I’ve seen. Tom Hooper’s directorial style works really well for television. It does a fantastic job at strongly emphasizing the production design and performances. I haven’t seen his other works so I don’t know how it would translate to film, but here it manages to stay visually interesting throughout while keeping the camerawork fairly minimal (save for a lot of fun wide shots).
