welcome to d's diary!

In the time of Sunflowers.

By the time summer started, I didn't think babysitting was going to change my life or anything. I figured it'd just be a couple of hours each day making sandwiches, stopping a kid from jumping off furniture, and maybe sneaking in some YouTube during nap time.

Then came Han Yien.

Baking Soon...🍪

Summer has rolled in, which can only mean one thing: festival season is around the corner. The Sitter Club just announced they’ll be wrapping up their last day of operation with a summer festival, and every sitter is required to team up and run a kid-friendly stall of their own design.

Juliette and MJ were paired together, and they wasted no time brainstorming the perfect idea for their stall. Babysitting kids of different ages meant they needed an activity that would work for toddlers and older kids alike. Something inclusive enough that even the sitters themselves could jump in if they wanted to.

meet mr. super genius himself: han yien.

i first met him back in january 2025 when i was working part-time as a kumon teacher. this little guy was one of my students. he was great at math and english. so much so that even the other teachers said he was one of the top five students at our center.

we actually got closer when i started tutoring him privately. his parents hired me for one-on-one sessions outside of kumon. they wanted a balance between "public class" and "private class" (rich people logic, i don't get it either, but i just said yes).

a wonderful life.

say hello to Suri Dahayu, or Dayu in short.

the owner of “oaklands”, the tiniest, cosiest cafe you’ve ever seen, tucked in a quiet little corner of town. it smells like cinnamon and comfort, and there’s always a warm drink waiting (plus maybe a cheeky slice of blueberry cheesecake).

lately though, Dayu's been deep in her books, juggling uni life and cafe life like an absolute star. she's still got flour on her apron and ink on her fingers, but she’s making it work, one sweet sip and study break at a time.

get to know a little of me.

Suri Dahayu. (2004)
