About us

Aperam is a world-leading stainless steel company with sustainability at its heart. Since its launch in 2011, Aperam has become an undisputable global player in stainless, electrical, and specialty steel. With a flat stainless and electrical steel production capacity of 2.5 million tonnes in Brazil and Europe, Aperam has customers in over 40 countries. This success is the result of a community of 12,000 employees who are working hard to make Aperam consistently better. Together, the company and its people are embracing sustainable development, a factor that is at the very heart of Aperam’s strategy of providing steel and alloy solutions that are affordable, and long-lasting, and that offers the strength, versatility, and endless recyclability needed to build a sustainable society. With its new Recycling and Renewables segment (BioEnergia, ELG, Recyco), Aperam has put itself at the forefront of the circular economy. In Europe, its production processes use about 90% scrap metal. Aperam is also unique as it is producing charcoal from its own FSC®-certified forestry in Brazil, which is then used in the steel-making process as a natural and renewable substitute for fossil fuels. Today, around 30% of Aperam’s workforce create value from working in Recycling and Renewables upstream. Aperam is also committed to making its products both sustainably and safely. Thanks to efforts like these, which go above and beyond what is required, Aperam’s CO2 footprint ranks as sector leading, and its overall sustainability performance consistently receives top ratings from external analysts. 🎙️ Meet the Aperam Leadership Team: Rodrigo Villela From starting his career as an electrical engineer to advancing through finance and executive leadership roles, Rodrigo Villela brings a unique combination of technical expertise and strategic vision to his role as CEO of Aperam South America. In a recent interview with Stainless Steel World Americas, Rodrigo highlighted the importance of looking beyond upfront costs and focusing on the long-term value of stainless steel through performance, durability, innovation, and sustainability. His perspective is clear: material selection should consider total cost of ownership, not just initial price. Rodrigo is also optimistic about the growth potential for stainless steel in South America, particularly in Brazil, where increased adoption across industries can deliver significant lifecycle benefits. At the core of his leadership philosophy is sustainability. For Rodrigo, circularity and responsible resources are essential to creating lasting value for future generations. 📖 Read the full interview in the Stainless Steel World Americas magazine below. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eJ6PVHwu 🔗 Aperam no Brasil #Leadership #SteelIndustry #CircularEconomy #StrategicVision #SouthAmerica

🌍 Aperam celebrates World Environment Day June 5 is a timely reminder that environmental responsibility is a shared commitment — and one that #Aperam takes seriously. At Aperam, environmental consciousness is embedded in how we operate, innovate and create long-term value. Guided by circularity, responsible sourcing, innovation and our unique integrated value chain, we continue to strengthen our contribution to a more sustainable steel industry. 🔎 A few key facts: ▪️ Aperam’s verified carbon footprint is below half of the industry average (scope 1 and 2, source: worldstainless). ▪️ After significant reductions in the 2010s (scopes 1-2), we target a -20% in all 3 scopes vs 2021 ; and already reported a -10% achievement in 2025. ▪️ The Aperam infinite™ product range offers up to 85% lower CO₂ emissions compared to the industry average, utilizing up to 98% recycled scrap. In 2025,  Aperam’s global scrap usage reached 72% across the Group. ▪️Aperam stands out through its Brazilian blast furnaces in Aperam no Brasil, powered by 100% renewable charcoal from our FSC®-certified eucalyptus forests, and through Aperam Recycling, a global leader in stainless steel scrap and high-performance alloy recycling. Every action counts. From shaping stainless steel with low emissions to rethinking our energy and waste systems — everyone at Aperam contributes to a sustainable transformation. 👉 Curious about our environmental efforts?  Learn more in our Corporate Sustainability report 🔗 https://bit.ly/3PeR4cQ 🔗 #WorldEnvironmentDay #CircularEconomy #Aperaminfinite #Bioenergia #Recycling #SteelIndustry

🎙️ Meet the Aperam Leadership Team: Frederico Ayres Lima From starting his career as an engineer at Aperam’s steel mill in Brazil to leading our Brazilian operations as CEO, and now overseeing Aperam’s European stainless steel production and Services & Solutions centres, Frederico Ayres Lima embodies a truly global Aperam journey. In a recent interview with Belgian Trends Magazine, Frederico expressed confidence in the future of European industry. He highlighted that recently approved EU steel trade measures, including stricter import quotas and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (#CBAM), are important steps towards addressing global overcapacity and creating a more level playing field for European producers. At the same time, the effectiveness of these measures will depend on their implementation, enforcement, and the continued efforts to address remaining loopholes and circumvention risks. Frederico’s outlook is clear: Europe has the expertise, technology, and industrial strength to succeed, supported by a fair and competitive market framework. 🇪🇺 📖 Read more (in Dutch) in the article below. #Leadership #SteelIndustry #EuropeanIndustry #IndustrialCompetitiveness #CircularEconomy
